Default LE 3 383 rwhp #'s?

Thinking of building a 383 with a le3 package and was wondering what kind of real world rwhp figures anyone is getting with this setup? I cant decide on which cam of Lloyds to run so I will probably let Lloyd tell me what he would suggest. It will be a pleasure car that will get driven alot with a/c and full weight. It also has a 6-speed. Any body running this setup?

I would simply go 355 if its not going to be driven that much why waste money on the machine work (unless you already have the parts), the LE2 setups make somewhere in the low 400's to the tire and have better driveability. My setup makes about 430 thats ported heads and intake and a mild 230 cam on a 108. Still a stock cube motor

i just talked to lloyde today about a cam for a 383 le2 headed engine. (my lt1 locked up today haha) but he recomended a 236/244 110 .568 cam for my car to shift at 6600 rpms. so im guessing he would suggest something around those specs for you. ide say more duration for those le3s but if you want good driveability outa that 6 speed then ide say it might even be smaller than mine but idk.

My LE2 383 made 434hp to the tire through a stalled auto.. So with a six speed I would expect a little more and with the bigger heads and bigger cam I would expect even more.. I think 450hp is do able with the wright parts...

The cam specs were 236/236 600/600 107+1 lsa. I swiched to a cam that is real close to the one Lloyd speced for you and the car felt a little stronger than befor..

LT1 intake.... My car is a full Weight daily driver with A/C... It's nothing special, just a good combo of parts..

440rw is going to be a little much to expect out of a le2 383. I would say 420rw.

OP has an M6. 440 rw should be no problem if he lets Lloyd spec the cam and the motor is built right.

There have been results of even 383s with le3 packages and making under 400hp. Its all about how good the combo works and if its well put together. But should make well over 400 hp tho.

Oh, I agree with you totally about all the disappointing results out there, seemingly with all the right parts, but just not executed/built correctly.
My qualification of the motor being built "right" is unfortunately easier said than done. Too many folks leap for stroker territory with big expectations but without the understanding to pull it off.

If you let Lloyd select the cam and have ALL the supporting mods I think 450 wouldnt be out of reach, maybe more if you get a real nasty cam.

I Spun a bearing in my stock motor and I was planning a fully forged rotating assembly for my rebuild. So I thought for almost the same price I could step up to a 383 LE 3. I cant decide just how radical I want to go with the cam. It gets god damn hot here in Texas and I will keep the A/C. I know a great tune will be the deciding factor on drivability. I want to do this one time and be happy with it. I dont want to wish I had gone bigger, cam or cubes, later on. 420-440 rwhp would be a total blast to have under my foot. So if I can pull thoses numbers that would be awesome. Thanks to everyone for the input.

After thinking over me having my block prepped, buying and assembly of the forged rotating assembly I could just about go with a ready built 11:1 forged 383 short block from cnc-motorsports. I could take their block and top it off with a LE3 set up. I would hope this would produce some tremedous power. What do you think of cnc-motorsports? I found their short block on e-bay.

I am not sure where they are but they do have a bunch of nice 383 LTx rotating assemblies with a bunch of options to match.
I have seen first hand ppl run good strong times with good reliability from these guys.
I am sure some of the sponsers on the right of the page have some options for you as well.

As far as RWHP.... enough, if done right.
