Default 3.90s with M6

Anyone ran this? I have a sound in the rear pretty sure I broke a set of gears. If that's the case I'm gonna go with 3.90s, should be a little stronger than the 4.10's better mileage, better traction etc.

Thoughts?

That's what I plan on sticking in my car here soon..I run a 26" Tire and I shift at 6500, so that puts my 4th Gear at 130mph topend..perfect for my setup in the 1/4 Mile.

I planned on running 3.90's. Really they are a great setup if you are going to stay with a 26" tall tire. But after going through 3 ten bolts I ordered a Dana 60 with 4.10's.

If your gonna spray the car 3.90s would be great. NA the bigger the better IMO then get a tire to make it work through the traps

I ran 3.90's in my 9" a year ago. They were great on the road but for some weird reason they got burned up at the track. I blamed it on synthetic oil cause nothing else really made any sense.

When I replaced them, I put in 4.11's and now I am kind of regretting it. 1st gear is always busting loose even under good raod conditions and obviously the MPG's went down some amount.

I will say this. When the tires do hook up or if I have the stickies on, the 4.11's do feel noticeably stronger. Might just be my imagination and the fact that I go through the RPMs faster.

At some point in time, I will probably go back to the 3.90's.

Listen to these guys and think about what your goals are with the car first.

I'm running 4.56s in my car, 28" tall tire and shifting at 7k.

Depending on what you use the car for is how you should decide. If you want the best 1/4mi performance then run a gear that will complement your power peak. If primarily for the street then run whatever gear makes you feel most comfortable.

YWell I don't know where power peaks but I do feel that the slightly taller gear will make better use of the powerband of the cam. It has gobs of tq and loves to break the tires loose, tons of mid range and a shift point of only 6200. I feel the 3.90s will make better use of the power it makes.

That and I think the 3.90s will be a Tad stronger than the 4.10s

One thing I didn't mention is I already had 4.10s so I'll be comparing the new gears to that, not stock.

I thought about 4.30s but could never find them for a 10 bolt. You need a 12 bolt, 9 inch, etc

I had 3.73s in my old car and always thought it was a waste of money and wished I did 4.10s.

I'll be running 4.30's in my new S60 Dana 60 rear and m6, I'll start off with 26" tall drs then I'll go to 27" drs and finally I'll try some 28" drs and see what the car likes.

3.73s in a M6 is weak sauce. Minimum I would ever do now is the 3.90s and I still dont think I would be happy with the end result judging by my 3.73s

4.71s here and a 28" tire... best thing ever for my combo. I'm making over 400 rwtq at 2800 rpm, and i felt 4.11s were too long. Gotta remember the OP is at 6000 ft as well, he needs to gear his car accordingly
