Default MAF and VE Tables Question

Just got tunercats going and starting to learn it.

In Solomon's help files he makes a distinction between the MAP tables and VE tables and talks about tuning them seperately.

He says to tune the VE tables in speed density mode, and then tune the MAF tables.

Problem is, where ARE the "maf tables" and "ve tables" in Tuner cats?

I only have the two "Volumetric Efficiency vs RPM vs MAP" tables.

is there something I'm missing here???

Thanks....

But those are the maf "calibration" tables. It was my understanding they tell the computer x volts = y airflow...

Are you saying they are used to tune part throttle air/fuel with

Yeah but not in volts...

Don't take this the wrong way but you really need to do some reading. Check out monodax.com, hptuners, etc and read up on all the basics...

Here's a screenshot showing the frequency with relation to the airflow in a spreadsheet...

I have been reading, a lot. Can you answer my question? Are the last 4 tables the MAF tables that are used for tuning air fuel in closed loop?

If so is it "tricking" the maf sensor? I don't want to hack my way through it, like changing the injector constant to tune air/fuel for example.

I'm on monodax already. Any specufc links I should read there or elsewhere?

And where did you get that spreadsheet?

Thanks,

First off. You need go to the Barne's and Noble in Cheyenne and get the Greg Banish book engine management advanced tuning book and read it cover to cover. You'll than understand and as soon as you think you do reread it once more and then purchase the tips from soloman($10) and you will understand the program better. Once you've done this you might want to get the second greg banish book SA161 mastering VE tables. I'm new to Jet DST in the past to months, and now have a new complete understanding of the way my car works. I have a great tune thats worked great now for nitrious and the altitude for up here at Bandimere....

You are not "tricking" the MAF, you are recalibrating it. Those are the tables to modify.

I always tune the VE first by putting the car in speed density mode. Get that squared away and re-enable the MAF. Then you start over tuning the MAF.
