Thats a speed limiter. If you are hitting the rev limiter theres something wrong with your transmission. A mail order tune will cure the speed limiter issue

What gear are you in when it does this? It sounds like you are hitting the factory speed limit. I think most dyno shops with the right software can up this a bit for ya.

Please tell me you are older then 20 and are not going out every night topping out your car.

The cars that were factory equipped with z rated tires had no speed limiter. the ones that came with the not z rated tires had a limiter around 106-112.

since you are going to be getting headers i would wait to have the speed limiter removed until you get the car tuned for the headers and intake

Get a tune to get rid of the speed limiter, 3.73s gears and a torque converter. Open your glove box, which one of these RPO codes do you see:

GU2 Axle, Rear 2.73 Ratio
GU5 Axle, Rear 3.23 Ratio

A good running full bolt on LT1 can go 12s easily.

Just be careful man, some kids don't realize how fast these cars are and how easy they are to get out of control.

Is he sure it hit a limiter??? maybe its down on power, How many miles? fuel filters get clogged easy on these cars. My 2000 z28 had 99,000 miles when I changed mine, I cut it open and I was surprized at how much **** was in there. Its so cheap that I replace it every 10,000 miles.

If your filter gets restrictive you run the risk of overheating the fuel pump as well and thats why most fuel pumps go bad. Do an overall tune up.

plugs, wires, air filter, oil change, fuel filter, clean MAF.
