Small cams make no power

 

Small cams suck.......they have no torque and cant do ****...

 

hahaha all I said was it "sounds" small. Im sure its a good cam

 

Ok just to be on the safe side, I AM NOT talking **** about Gregrob here...his Camaro is fast as hell, I am just posting results of my build nothing more!

Got the SS out tonight and met up with Gregrob. Took it out for a spin and it is running GREAT! It is still on the old tune right now. The only differences from the old tune to the new setup is the heads went from AFR's to LE2's, the cam is different, bigger TB, and bigger headers. It is getting dyno tuned with the 8.8 rear in just under 2 weeks. With that said, here is how it went!

I CAN NOT get traction AT ALL. I have a SPEC Stage 4 Clutch and ALOT of torque so my tires break loose with MINIMAL throttle. With that in mind Gregrob drove my car and agreed we should see where my car stands compared to his. Due to the epic FAIL I have right now with traction, Gregrob and I agreed to start from a 40mph roll. At 40mph I was sitting around 3500rpms. We took off and my SS pulled on him pretty hard. I shifted into 3rd and went sideways slightly before getting grip and pulling away some more. I am not sure how far out in front I was but I was impressed for sure. We did this a couple times then decided to give it a shot from a dig.

From a dig Gregrob can launch like a bat out of he**. I was suprised at how fast I was able to get traction and floor it, but even then he STILL put just over 2 lengths on me on the launch alone...Once I hit second gear he was no longer pulling on me, and when I went into 3rd I was gaining on him pretty fast. I ended up just about 1 1/2 lengths back when we hit 110.

Next up, 8.8 Rear End, LCA Relos, Tune, and Slicks! Then practice practice practice on that launch lmao!

I am highly impressed with the setup because Gregrobs car is no joke, but he was NOT spraying lol. If he had sprayed I would have been REALLY hurting lmao

 

Yep it runs good Cory, and still has a lot to pickup with a good tune and the exhaust sorted out.

Definitely feels like it will be easy 12's up here IF you can hook and get it out of the hole without bogging / spinning. That Spec clutch is gonna make it tough, but get a badass rear in it and drop it at 6k at the track and it should testify.

I definately can't wait to get the exhaust and that rear in it and get her all tuned up then get her to the track!

 

wtf? 30ann what the hell just happened to your opti thread? I was writing a reply to you and AIP and I went to post and tech told me I didn't have permission, hit the back button and got the same ****, went back to the lounge and the thread is GONE? is the admin pulling some shenanigans?

 

I guess so. I didnt even see what AIP put in there...all I saw was that there was a new post in it which that thread has been dead for a few weeks now, and then I went to open it and it told my the same ****, I didnt even get to READ it...it was just gone.

 

Sounds like there are no issues with that cam I spec'd you!

bogus! ****** IB just wants $$$$ outta AIP im sure all AIP said was that they have fixed & on improved their optis doing extensive r&d in the last few years and have gotten involved w/ fbodies in motorsports.. and that 'thepartsladis' optis are not genuine GM -which ther not.
I wonder if IB even banned them until they pay sponsorship fees.

lol. Boys Boys Boys, quit bickering lmao! It runs great! Blew a fuse today that runs my EWP, so I upped it from a 10 to a 15 and gonna see what happens...

 

I hear that one I spec'd for your car works pretty frick'n awesome too!

 

I can vouch for that one lmao! It pulls pretty ****** hard. Did Gregrob tell you what the specs on mine turned out to be according to the ADCOLE sheet from Comp Cams? It wasnt what you speced, it was a little bigger...not much though

 

Better up that to a 30 amp

 

why a 30 amp??? The pump only pulls 5.8 amps according to Summit...Does it blow everything else or what?

 

Yeah, I saw the Adcole report. It is pretty typical for Comp to grind a little bigger than what their Lobe Catalog specifies. I actually took that into consideration when I told Gregrob what LSA and advance to grind it on.

 

I emailed him the adcole sheet.

Thanks for helping pick the LSA after I had the rest of the specs n Cory's cam.

 

Summit is lying, I'll bet the amperages rating was done while it was not pushing water, Put a clip on amp meter and see what it draws.
