I recently Had my stock pan modified for my 383. Since then I decided I wanted to upgrade to an aftermarket pan for the additional capacity.
Both Moroso and Canton offers pans. Any input on these?
What pickups have to be used? could I use the summit pickup?
As far as pumps go, I was looking at the 10554 melling. I wanted something that was Standard Volume and high pressure but the 10554 says its standard on both. Any thoughts on these?

I can't vouch for the Moroso, but my Canton 242T fit fine with the Canton 20-023 pickup. I'm using the 10552 pump, but I'm sure you could substitute for the 10554. Whatever pump and pickup you go with, you'll still need to mock everything up for proper clearance.
The Melling 10554 is standard volume and higher pressure (it comes with the Melling pink spring, similar to the GM white spring). It also includes the hardened pump drive shaft.

I just put a moroso pan on my 383. With the moroso you have to use the moroso pickup. they make 2 pickups for four different pumps. The pan number is 20185. the pickups both use a 5/8ths pickup tubes. A stock style pickup will NOT fit unless you cut and custoize the hell out of it. The pickup numbers are as follows.
1. pickup # 24212 Fits: Moroso SBC Race Pump No 22101 or M55 style pump. the m55 is a $40 pump found any where
2. pickup # 24213 Fits: Moroso SBC HV Race Pump No 22111 or M55HV style pump
These are the only pumps they fit besides one other but the pump it's self is $90. I can find the number if you need.
As for fit, The stock windage tray HAS to be removed. The moroso pickup will have to be modified to gain the right clearance at the bottom of the pan. If you run long tubes, you will probably have to plug the oil level hole. A plug CAN be found at ACE truevalue. It is a m20x1.5 and the 1.5 is a thread angle not a length. It fits but if you have long tubes lift the engine up a bit before tring to install them. It is an overall ok pan, it has to be cleaned very well due to all of the weld beebee's that fall off very easy, but after that it's ok. I am not thrilled with it and it will not increase oil capacity.

So what pan to go with is the Question, I would also like more of an oil capacity and it seems that the moroso is not the one to go with here. What about experience with with canton. I have a pbroblem with my oil and I'm looking for an aftermarket pan and pump and pickup to see if this takes care of my problem. I need it ASAP!

Am I understanding this right? It has an oil level hole but you can't use it if you have long tube headers even though it says you can? And why do you have to remove the stock windage tray? And you have to use Moroso pumps and pickups with this tray too?!
****. If this is all true then so much for it being a simple bolt on...
