Lined up the Dots on the timing chain

and heres where the crank is at

No idea.. thats how it was when i took the stock cam out, Does anyone know if this looks right, i forgot the fireing order so i took a pic so everyone can see, Im trying to get my oil pan on and my motor on the mounts

Why do you need to know the firing order to line up the dots? It looks fine. When the dots are together it is at #6 TDC.

Why didn't you clean the gasket surfaces before putting the cam in?

Gonna be a real shame when he cleans that stuff off and half of it falls into where it shouldn't go. All this talk about working clean to this point and STILL no improvement.

yes looks correct. and by the way, all small block chevy motors GEN1/GENII share the same firing order. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

That timing chain looks pretty loose, may want to replace it while you're that deep.
