Well, would be better to know his set up, or maybe what kind of times he turns at the drag strip. But my car ran very well with just long tube headers, full exhaust, lid, 150 wet shot of nitrous. I took out some fast cars with that set up, and it wasnt real expensive. Dont forget about drag radials too, and if its an auto, a stall converter. I've never owned an LT1 vehicle, but love my LS1, and would highly recommend.

Sooooo you're going to spend 8k on building a car to beat some fox body, which you know nothing about? You also don't seem to know much about fbody's if you're asking if you should get an ls1 or lt1. Nobody can help you if you don't have any information. Use the search feature to learn about ls1's and lt1's, read the stickies.

my father has a 460 in a fox body, its a rebuilt stock 460 with a wiend intake and a 800 holley and it runs, 7.22 on motor. i also have a buddy in ga with heads bigger cam and spray and he has 6.09. now keep in mind this is in the 1/8 mile

We need to know motor specs as well as the rest of the car's setup. A well thought out 460 combo in a light fox body could do some SERIOUS damage at the drag strip. A shitty thought out combo could run garbage times so knowing exactly what is done to that car is key.
