Default OBD 1 switch

Can a OBD1 be switched to a OBD2? If so please feel free to chime in. The more info the better. I need to know everything.

Why do you want to switch it?

Most people swap OBDII to OBDI.

Yes, it can be done...
  • install 96-97 timing cover
  • install 4x crank reluctor and sensor
  • install 96-97 crank hub
  • install 95-97 optispark
  • install 95-97 camshaft so that you can drive the optispark
  • add OBDII data stream wire to PCM and route to OBDII diagnostic port

That's an overview anyway. The OBDI and OBDII harnesses are nearly identical at the PCM.

you misspelled

"is"
"buy"
"tune"
"tuner"
"spare"
"possible"

also, you still have not explained why you would want to convert from obd-1 to obd-2

like listed above, you would need to buy all of those parts. Also like has been said, OBD-1 is much easier to tune than obd-2.

The only thing worth going to OBDII is using the LS Coils and PCM..
