Default My 570zx build

I am currently in the process of putting a 1996 LT1 into my 1988 300zx. Here are some pics.

Old Setup.

The last time the VG was in my car, going to my friends shop for a little work.

Well, after a blown headgasket and a cracked piston, i was fed up with the 6cyl, so my friend offered me a SBC 350 and a build TH350 turbo trans, with the stipulation that i would build a Chevy powered nissan. So... i started...

Engine coming out... Record time i might add, 2.4 hours... With a drinking break with my friend.

The test fitting, and yes, those are wood block offs, i had to make due with what i had avail.

Like a freaking glove.

Mount to crossmember clearance

Mounts being mocked up, these were the first ones. The final ones fit much better

The final version of the mounts. See, they're notched a little deeper, and fit super snug. The engine is basically as low as it can possibly be.

The mount plate attached to the Clamshell

Welded up mounts before they were welded to the cross-member. The square stock plus the mount plate

The car with the SBC in and my new wheels. Some Deep dish cobra Mustang Replica's. 18x10 all the way around with a -3 offset.

And finally, a quick running video of the SBC in my car. Dont mind the mess, this was one of the first times i started it.

Maybe you can clear this up for me. first you said 1996 LT1 then states sbc 350 (clearly a sbc 350 pictured). So did you change to a LT1? The your title says 570zx but you stayed its a 300zx. But otheer than thy it looks good. Can't watch the video right now though.

I am uploading the pics of my LT1. I haven't finished swapping it in. So, yes, i am changing to a LT1. As for 570zx, thats what i call my car now as Nissan generally has the engine liters followed by ZX (my car had a 3.0 VG, the 350z is a 3.5 etc etc.)

The engine bay. Quick cleaning with legs spread...waiting for the LT1

The new engine going in. Purchased from Tireburnin.

1996 Lt1 - 94Kish Miles, 5k miles on top end refresh
-Schnieder 224 Cam
-New vented opti
-Accel 24lb injectors
-Comp 1.6 Pro Mag Rockers
-Upgraded Valve Springs
-LS1 Lid conversion
-Tech Rod stand alone LT1 harness
-NOS wet system, NOS bottle blanket ,NOS bottle heater, MSD RPM window switch ,NOS purge solenoid/line, MSD 6A ignition box (purchased from Jasonshort)
-Alternator Relocation.
-BBK Under-drive pulley

Exhaust is Chevy Corvette Ramhorns (with the 2.5in collector) with true duals, H pipe, 27" glasspacks, with turndowns. Sounds pretty good.

Here is a vid of it idling before it was pulled

Here is a picture of it stripped of every unnecessary accessory

And just a cool car i saw while going to get an axle for my friends 320whp SRT-4

And this is the tool you make when the axle wont come out of the trans. Weld on a rod to the acle and make a slide hammer.

You better get some 2x3 box tubing and notch your floorpans and weld it in to tie your frame together or the torque will twist your car in half. Very nice car otherwise.

Right now it just has 1/6 roller rockers, BBK under-drive, LS1 intake lid conversion, and will have a 100shot. You know...all the bolt on stuff. I am going to build another for either NA or turbo...haven't decided yet.

Yea... i can't tell if you're joking or not... so FYI if you are, sarcasm doesn't translate well through the internet.

No... The car will be fine just the way it is. There are Z31 owners with 700whp without major chassis stiffening that are doing fine. A relatively stock LT1 isn't going to do anything to my chassis.

With that said, i am, however, going to do some front end modification when i get ready to put my radiator in... just for peace of mind because i've cut a lot of stuff off.

Just a small update and some pics of my parts whoring. I was working on my radiator support today.
Here are some parts that i have sitting in my bedroom. Probably about 1500$ worth and climbing.

My new toy...

My first gas weld in a while... Not too bad since i haven't done it for so long. One of the corners of my radiator support

Radiator support being test set up.

Radiator mocked on to see how it would fit...

Another.

Now it has plenty of clearance available to get a 3in pipe and the SLP lid over it. 8)

Only major thing left now is wiring and little odds/ends then its drive time.

I also ordered this because i figure its applicable with me driving around a LT1 swapped nissan...

you should order another hat for the passenger. It wouldnt be justice unless both you guys would have them on. lol

What do you think it will weigh?? A good bolt on LT1 should do 300-320rwhp, well depending on the stall with an a4. But your talking 3300-3500lbs raceweight, if you are around 2850lbs it should be great fun with just na, now the 100 shot it will move. Nice work

I'm hoping to be able to get the car down to 2850ish with me IN the car, so around 2650.
