I guess the LT1 KM retards the timing enough for N20 and the LT4km doesnt, thats why I keeping mine LT1 km just for that reason cause I might run N20 soon but who knows

Does anyone know if the LT4 km would work in a 96-98 model vortec truck? I am running a LT4 hot cam in my 96 model vortec 350 and I have been getting some misfire codes which I thought might be caused by the lope from the cam.

The best route to take is be safe not sorry. Since the LT1's don't have DIS, unless you installed it, Run a igniton box, (MSD Digtal 6), that has a built in retard and a separate window switch for the N2O activation. Now, I have a DIS on my LS1, it sucks not to be able to control the retard. But I don't have the juice on it....YET.
Better to spend $400 now than $4000 later. And the Imps D6 is awesome and I love it. Dial in what you want and Voila', it's ready. rev limiter, retard when the juice is activated at 3k-6200 and pulls 4* of timing.
Just some friendly advice.

Interesting subject.
So if I understand clearly you can swap the module behind a regular LT1 PCM ( OBDI if that matter ) for a LT4 module and it can help ?
I have a hot cam from GM with some 1.6RR and the valvetrain is pretty noisy so I may be getting some false knock from my setup ?
Do you need to have a new tune on the car or just swap it and go ?
I thought you guys were talking about the knock sensor on the block itself.

x2 both of you guys should get a tune since your not running the stock cam anyways, besides that GM stopped making LT4 KM so you have to do some searching for 1, last I knew the ws6 store has some left

The knock module will also only benefit you if you are getting knock. If you are not getting any knock and the pcm is not pulling timing, you will see a 0.0% power increase. The only way to determine if you are getting knock is to hook up a scanner (Datamaster, Freescan, etc...) and confirm.

I realized that today.
Still good information tho.

Yes!! Very good information. I opened up the PCM on my 97 yesterday to install LT4 km I bought about 3 years ago (to go in a 96 Formula I bought not running and STILL isn't running). Well I got the cover off and there was already one installed. I was thinking about selling the new one and just getting one later when I finally (hopefully) get the 96 running, but if it's discontinued I will hold on to it. Wish I had bought a pile of them.
