Default Does anybody know what connection this is?

Well when i bought the car the seller said he didn't remember what kind of chip it was and lost the packaging and im wondering what this is because i need to tune the car and pcmforless told me if its a jet chip i can only have one or the other.

The car is a 1993 z28 Camaro 6 speed LT1 350, various mods are lt4 hotcam kit with comp cam rockers rollers 1.6 ratio, underdrive pulley, edelbrock shortys, chrome vaulve covers as well as caps and dipstick, and whatever chip this is supposed to be lol.

also theres a wierd toggle switch behind the shifter console -

does anyone know what type of chip or connection this is?

if you have a chip it will be in the PCM not the port the chip will be under the hood in the left upper corner in that black box or case

if your getting a pcmforless tune then remove the jet chip because it will not be needed. trace the wires from the connector and see if it plugs into the pcm. the other connector on the gas pedal side is the pcm obd connector. iirc

Pro lock or something like that? My 97 has a pro lock which is a simple theft deterant. Yours looks like the key is not in though. Are the wires conected to it or not? It should have the ignition wires conected to it.

If you want some help your going to have to do a little work first, Pull off that bottom cover and see where the wiring from it goes. Take some pics and post them up. It could be some kind of homemade crap, seeing where it goes will help

My car had that when I bought it. It is a security key/chip. Not sure how you're running without the key/chip not in the slot though. Maybe it's been bypassed or disconnected or possibly the little toggle switch is a bypass. It's not computer related.

It may not be a prolock but there where other variations back then. Most did not know how complicated the security system already was. Alot of cars had bad keys through the years where the risistor wears down and one thing guys did was to take the prolock or similar product out of the loop. So you could be running with out it if it is not hooked up. What brand does not matter. They where dealer and aftermarket addons. Not stock. It works like a kill switch is all. You can disconect it and take it out of the loop in a matter of minutes. Take some good quality pics and maybe someone will know what brand it is. I can't imagine it a brake controller lol.

well there isnt a brand on it its just a black box that goes into the stearing column and as u can see in the pic the piece looks like someone installed it themselves looks broken.
