Default How many people are running stock throttle bodies

and running faster than 11s?

with either a fullly ported h/i/c

how bout just cam only?

stroker and h/c/i

What is really suggested for the throttle body to be swapped. Some claim 500 hp is the limit, but who says different?

a 52 works well on a bolt on/cam only LT1. once you go H/C you will see bigger gains going with a 58 or monoblade

could you just go straight to the 58mm or would you lose power if your not h/c yet?

When I was cam only I ran the stock TB, I couldn't justify spending the money on something that really wasn't needed. When I went with my LE2 package I went ahead and upgraded to the 58MM TB at that time. I would imagine that the stocker isn't much of a restriction until you start adding more cubes or spinning some really high rpm's but that is just my guess.

IMO more flow (both intake and exhaust) can never hurt but only help. the amount of power gained will vary depending on what has been done to the motor.

thats just my opinion. many believe its a waste unless ur pushing big power.

i know when i plan to buildmy big motor (whenever that will be lol) i will go with a vic jr intake with a monoblade. guy over on ltxtech is doing it and it looks like its gonna create great gains

Gizmos car runs mid 10s with a Stock TB and makes over 400hp. His kids car goes 7.0s with a stock TB also, and heads cam etc.

there was an article a member wrote some time over this winter comparing diff TB's on the dyno that was pretty interesting..
I have no idea what I'd run @ the track but I'm still on the stock tb and am in no rush to upgrade

From what I've read on here, most everyone recommends staying stock unless your set-up is extremely radical.....BUT....FWIW I saw a consistent '95 Z28 bracket car/daily driver pick up just over a tenth in the 1/8th swapping only a 52mm Edelbrock/BBK TB that he bought used off Ebay. Car was mostly stock, A4, 3.23, shorty headers, hooker muffler, LCA's, SFC, and drag radials. Went from 8.90's stock with DR to high 8.70's with headers/exhaust to low 8.60's with the 52mm TB. Weather was getting hotter as the mods were made. (middle GA spring/sumer) This isn't anything at all exceptional or quick for the mods, but it does show a cosistent impovement with a bigger TB on a car that was mostly stock.

All that being said......my car still has a stock TB, and I'm undecided about if/when I will upgrade. I figure there are lots of better places to spend the money first.

Like someone else said above, I doubt it would hurt to go bigger even if it didn't gain anything.

I watched Woodro Josey go 9.88 with an LT4 powered Camaro a few years back at Rockingham with the stock TB and a gasket matched intake (@ 3000 lbs). There have been several nine second Super Stock LT1's. There are hundreds of LT1 Stockers in the tens with the stock piece. Nothing that I know of on this site has been nines with one.

I will most likely have a stock TB on my LT4 at the Shootout this year. I really don't see a reason to run anything larger. In fact, I bet I would lose a little sixty foot with a larger TB.

Correct, the kids car still has the stock cam in it and has gone 7.05 in the 1/8th (N/A).

My other car will run 6.5's on demand with a stock TB (N/A). It has a pretty stout duration, stock lift cam.

Thats what i meant, stock TB, stock heads, & stock cam, although I do believe the heads have a valve job so I guess they arent 100% stock but they are unported.
