AFR LT1 heads Question
I was taking a look at these heads
http://www.airflowresearch.com/index.php?cPath=27_28
and noticed that on their site it says they require a LT4 intake manifold, but on other sites such as summit i think it say they require a LT1 intake manifold, my question is which manifold is required for those heads, and help is appreciated.

thanks for dropping in, i figured so, are you using a gm lt4 manifold? and overall with those heads what kind of numbers are you making? if you dont mind me asking, i was considering the the smaller lt1 heads, but idk how much they can be ported i suppose i will have to give them a call and ask

I heard they have some meat on them to port, you could have them ported and help that motor breathe, thanks for the info, i'll be giving them a shout soon to get some more info on them

The castings are pretty much made to be ported and have a TON of meat.

Both are stellar heads and overkill for most builds, but if you already have the AFRs it would be cheaper and easier to have those ported.
To each his own though, either way will have the potential to reach your goals .

I have AFRs and i have priced having them ported in the future, it really is a wide range of prices. I have quotes all the way from 650 to 1300$ but still cheaper than a new set of CNCd heads.
The higher priced ones were also replacing the guides.
But all promised over 300 cfm @ .600 lift.

Not that CFM really matters as much as people think, but 300cfm is not hard to get from AFRs. FWIW A friend from another board has some barely touched up ones that flow 290, and they are the tiny castings.
They won't be as cost effective as CNC'd TFS heads if you didn't have any heads right now -and no doubt AI has a killer TFS package - but you already have AFRs so......

People don't quite comprehend there is a difference between being fastest at bench racing and being fastest on track.
Why on earth would you choose a company to work with then ask them to work with a product they would rather not??? Going to pay a professional for advise just to ignore it?
