Stock for stock no. Cayman S' throws out a low 13 in the 1/4. Slight horsepower and weight advantage is the only reason behind that. Kind of would expect 12's for a 3000lb $62,000 car though.

i personally like this forum, since its got a lot of 4th gens as the majority of users and i know im not always looking for LT1 info but maybe suspenion or electrical mods, even though i come on here and get lots of great hints for my LT1. This is my first LT1 i just got out of my TPI/L98 phase and this place is super helpful and not crowded.

I had a 97 TA that I loved, it was my first "car with *****" shall I say. But 2 years later, I just couldn't find myself desiring to spend money on the motor, so I swapped in a cammed LS1. Then the car got REAL fun. The LT1 had a 150 wet shot through a TB plate. That **** was fun too. 2 months later the car was totalled, and now I have my dream car a true LS1 car.

To sum this up, an LT1 car is a fun *** car to play with, and sure beats a lot of cars, but if you want be even faster, and don't mind saving, LS1.

I've got an old 95 V6 Firebird junker that one day I want to drop a forged 383 LT1 in it. I don't know why an LT1 but I just do. I could just as easily do an LS1 in it, but I'd love to have a torque monster 383 LT1 in it.

Very True. My stock internal bolt on LT1 put down 350 ft/lb of tq @ 4000RPM through a m29 M6 and a 3.23 rear. At 2Krpm i was 320, and didnt fall off under 300 untill redline. Very flat curve. My 315's dont stand a chance in 1st and 2nd, and have a hard time catching 3rd..

i believe people with lt1s love there cars more than people with ls1 cars and i think i know atleast part of the reason

ur at a car meet. you walk up to a guys car. "nice car, wanna run um?" guy says, "nah u got an ls1, u will win." "oh thats not an ls1" you say. "its an lt1" "oh iv heard of those, i can beat that" and then u beat him anyway casue hes too stupid to see the nitrous line in the intake.

now which would have been funner? if u had an lt1 or if u had had an ls1?

I'm pretty sure I could take a Cayman S without much trouble despite my car being 15 years old and handicapped with a LT-1. As a matter of fact I can't wait to run into a new SS on the street so I can see exactly what an extra 700 lbs means when you have basically the same amount of horsepower.

I am VERY proud of my LT1. I like it when guys with slightly modded LS1's talk **** to me because I am an LT1.

They act like their LS1 with a Cam, Intake, and Exhaust cant be touched by my LT1 with H/C/I/E plus more. They talk **** saying I cant be over 360HP or so...then I blow their doors off by LENGTHS. It is a great feeling.

I was considering switching to a 98-02 WS6 with lower miles (my 97 WS6 has ~106k), but the more I think about it, the more I'd probably miss the car if I got rid of it.

It was like my first love! First real car with an appearance of torque thrusting *****

106 is nothing, even a stock opti should be holding up...lol

I have 190k miles on my '97 SS.

Did I mention the car I'm interested has a rebuilt and built motor? Now you can see why I'm tempted.

Yeah, I'm kind of nervous. I bought an Allignition opti before I heard of all of the problems with them. Put that one in.

The stocker with msd cap/rotor is sitting upstairs in my room at my parent's house just in case
