Default 383 stroker .060 LT1 build

Im in process of building a 383 stroker LT1 .060. I bought the short block but only kept the crank. I am changing over to a 4 bolt with the eagle splayed caps. Waiting on the block to get line bored now
I went with-
6inch h beam rods with arp studs
Wiesco tru pro pistons
clevite h series bearings
heads are full ported and polished tested on flow bench decked .040. Excellent job on them.
Beehive springs
Rocker studs - 7/16
intake milled out for 58mm throttle body

Still need-
Roller rockers (going 1.6, 7/16 full roller. Any recomandations?)
roller cam (trying to figure out some good numbers)
58mm throttle body
Injectors

etc.........................

If anyone wants to give me advice, ill take it Im new to all this. Building the motor then getting the car

So what crank are you going with? I hope its not a eagle crank? Whats the compression gonna be, do you know?
As for your cam, you should atleast know what everything else is gonna be.
That engine will be pretty stout when its said and done.

What other advice are you looking for?

"LT1 .060."

Why are you going .060" over. That is getting into the chancy territory. I think that would also make it a 388?

It was a used short block. Thats how it was. I dont know what it would make it but it started as a 383 stroker.

I have been using Harland Sharp with good results. They are a true 1.6+ ratio. People have been getting good results with Scorpion which I believe are a little cheaper.

Haven't had a problem with my Scorpions - over 2 years strong now. They were like $180, and extremely light compared to my Crane ones

Yep, those are it. Keep in mind though, with those you will need a 7/16 rocker stud, hardened push rods, and guide plates.

yeah I already have the studs and planned on guide plates. Also I am going to need to figure out what length push rods but thats a little ways down the line.

Stacking parts that I know I will need while my motor is in shop getting the short block together.

.060 over is chancing it indeed. My last motor was a 388 too and let me tell you. the cylinder wall scoring and oil eating and uneven wearing on the rings was obvious. Have your block sonic tested for thickness. If you got a good one with no core shift you're ok. My shoppe lied to me that they tested it. i had it done after my motor blew up and sure enough it was hair thin on one side.

.060 is not a good idea. I had a used block that I got and the machine shop wouldn't touch it cause it was already .040. He said if your panning on doing any " hot roding" goin anything over .040 is not a good idea. And I thought a 400 crank and .060 on a sbc would be a 396. So wouldn't .040 be a 388?

I made my 388 with a 3.8 crank and some 6in rods. I'm using some Promag RR's they aren't the cheapest and they came out with the Ultra's right after I bought mine.

I know of many 388s still alive and making damn good power. I figure if you half hard block the engine and get good parts, it will last.

Also you stated that your heads were decked .040"???? Or your block was?
