Default Piston valve clearance?

I have a stock 95 lt1 out of a caprice and want to swap the heads and cam. I picked a pair of aluminum F body heads and a comp cam. My question is will that engine handle a .576 lift cam? I know I have to change the springs and I will be running the the stock ratio rocker arms.

Lift isn't the only thing that would affect ptv clearance but short answer: yes. .576 should nr no problem

Run some full roller rockers instead of the stock ones. Which cam you getting, sounds like a CC306...

Sounds like an XFI cam which are rated with a 1.6 rocker, the stockers are 1.5 so your lift would be less. I wouldn't trust the stock rockers with much more than the stock cam.

How does it sound like an XFI cam? There are plenty of profiles out there that could end up with a net lift of .576 lol

The reason I say that is He says he picked up a set of aluminum heads and a comp cam, which more than likely means it was an off the shelf cam listed for an LT1, and the only off the shelf cams with that lift # are XFI cams.

The Caprice shortblock is the same as the f-body.

The aluminum heads are NOT an upgrade without porting. That said the iron heads can not handle that lift without machining.

Why don't you tell us what cam you picked because the Comp cams listed rpm ranges are WAY off and you probably picked a cam based on them and will endup with WAY too much duration that way. Generally for a stock shortblock you want to say under 230degrees on the intake. Probably even better to stay down in the mid 220s in most cases.

The cam is actually for the TPI engine I had but I sent it in to have the dowel pin replaced so I can use it in my LT1 because my 70 camaro is getting upgraded from a TPI to a LS1. I thought the lift was bigger but its .570 in/.565 ex. Adv duration is 268/276. I just want to make sure I will have clearance which is all I am concerned with...
