Some of us (including myself) think that LT1's are more fun because of the torqeyness (sp?).

Firstly, has everybody read rule number one in the LT1/4 forums guidelines/general rules? Here it is:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...e-posting.html

Secondly, many many people have felt the burn of modding LT1 engines just to always have "something else" go wrong. The LS platform is better. If the LT1 engine was "better" why did GM shelf it and base their future on the LS series? LS engines routinely make 500 HP N/A. Do that with a LT1.

Thirdly, to the OP: You’re stepping in the right direction but I think you should simply sell the 11.4 LT1 car and get a car that has a LS1 to start with. Way easier than a swap. AND that LT1 car can live on.

Forth, also to the OP: You posted that you wanna blow up and destroy your LT1 in the very forum chock full of LT1 aficionados. Seriously, you had to realize they’d jump all over you. Not very smart, eh?

This has been amusing....

Yes, you'll need that money for the new LS power plant. Should be a breeze getting into the 11s, then 10s. Keep a good stash of money on hand when you hit 9s and that chalk block shakes apart.

That is true... I was just thinking If I had a ls1 why sell it for the lt1? But if I already had a lt1 than I can understand why you would want to keep it(it being the underdog).

Hate to add my stink into this one, I have both and is my LS3 top 408 fast YES for a street car but hands down I drive my LT1 far more than my LS TA. With the gears and HP, its tame and fun to drive every day, as I used to. Its still an 11sec car.

I was on the fence about the swap too and would do it if my LT1 trans would work on an LS eng. I bought a forged 383 short block and I'm going to use all my stuff on this 383. I should have 420+ hp. I'm not looking to make this like my 408. I'd just like to keep up with new 10 Camaros and say you paid what!

If the argument is still about an LS1 then quit talking OLD stuff. Hands down the LS3 is a FINE engine. Do it right or stick with a LT1 and don't complain. Yeah opti crap, squat down and buy a REAL MSD opti...BEST thing I ever did!

Last thing about the LS1...I picked up 40rwhp going to CNC LS3 heads with a ported OE LS3 intake over my CNC 243 LS6 heads and a FAST92/90TB and SAME CAM on both tops. So get real, go LS3 or stay LT1.

Oh for the LS1 lover/s remember the production run of LS1 of 13yrs+ and LT1s just had 5yrs.

Please read...this is LT1 talk, go to LS to feel better if what you think you have is an enbarasment. This is kids talk...next thing you know someone will say how the LT1 is better than a 50yr old SBC...

ls3 heads already flow over 300cfm..Lol so I hope it will be better cnc ported than the old ls6 heads.. lol Ls3 is a very good motor it cost a bit but you can buy a ls2 cheaper and do a 408 or even cheaper a Iron block lq4 or lq9.

fixed

truth is, most heads/cam ls1s are in the 400-450 range. not too difficult to get an lt1 in that area either. just thought you should know

400-450 range is very easy with an N/A LT motor...hell you can do it with stock heads and intake if you just P&P them well...not to mention all the afermarket options

I LOVE being the underdog. I can't wait to line up with every single N/A LS1 car in my area. Most are turds around here. They all run low-mid 12's with a few exceptions. The exceptions all need cool mineshaft air to best my times from 2007. Well except for one lol (studderin). I just got the good-'ol boot from my local track for not having a cage. I ran low 7's (1/8th) with the track being 103 degrees, the air 82, and my tranny slipping a teensy bit in 3rd. When my cage goes in and the new tranny is in place the callouts shall begin. I'm hunting for a 6.99/10.99 N/A on the stock shortblock. How many LS1 cars run 10's on the motor? Yeah, there are some, but most don't get anywhere close to that. It's fun listening to the 20 year-old know-it-alls who can quote cam-only numbers from the database yest their own cars are a full second off of the list, lol. Beating them with the lowly LT1 must sting!

Disclaimer* There are quite a few guys in my parts that rock LS1 cars and are cool as hell and hold no grudges whatsoever. They know who they are!

That is true. Both cars can make 450rwhp but its just easier to get thier in a ls1. It just comes down to which one you can afford and the one you rather work with.

I've had my LT1 for almost three years now and I've been reading various Camaro/LT1/LS1 forums for the same amount of time and the main thing that gives these motors a bad reputation is the freakin' opti. Other than that, most folks who really spend the time and effort seem to be getting a lot out of these motors, even though the support for the LT1 is pretty weak. Come up with a bulletproof/cheap opti replacement and I'm sure a lot more people would give this motor a little more respect.

Cheap guy, You are very right about that.. Maybe that what it is. When I had mine I would hit a puddle of water and my car would turn off because my opti got wet..lol

to the OP, your a tool, and its obvious you didnt spend your own money on your engine, because any logical person would atleast part the engine out, its all cool if you wanna do a LS swap but think with your head not your ***
