I'd opt TH400 too. Do it right the first time.

A good converter is going to cost you big $$, but well worth it as is a trans brake. I too got tired of breaking parts with the M6, and being horribly inconsistent.

Welcome to being a true player in the bracket race game

Sure, I guess 10lb's isn't anything to account for. Most of it being rotating mass.

350 is lighter and faster and a properly built one will handle plenty of HP and last a long time.

Weight-
4l80e- wet 255
4l60e- wet 175
TH400- wet 140
TH350- wet 130
Powerglide- wet 110

The Trans I posted has a 9" tail section. I got in contact with the original owner and was rebuilt 2 yrs ago, but only has 12 passes on it. Never gave the original owner any probs

So what size is the med tail shaft I need??

ac you got me thinking about doing this swap now. i t woudl help me out cause i constantly smoke and tear the hell out of clutches

all i need really is a full list of evdrythign that i need.

if i go with a non lockup th 350 do i even need m6 harness. couldn't i just tape that away and not worry about any lights or codes coming on?
this woudl make it way easier for my but wouldnt i have to buy a different crossmember and torque arm mount braquet or qould i be able to use my stock trans member and just bolt the turbo 350 to it.

have you figured our with tail piece is the right length so you can use the stock drive shaft

i have a th350 that i am rebuildign myself right now. not as bad as i thought it woudl be rebuildign a old school trans

10 lbs is nothing. And if you actually talk to people who race instead of internet experts, they will tell you that a 400 is NOT any slower...

I've seen it back to back on a deadly consistent bracket car and it didn't slow down ANY

I dunno tell that to a SS or SE racer like Gizmo. Its not just the 10lbs but the total combo that Im worried about. Fact is 10lbs is 10lbs and a properly built 350 will last me quite some time with the amount of driving/racing I have time for.
TH400 is def stronger, and heavier. When Im making 1000hp id consider it more. These trans are pretty cheap and everything can bolt right over if I decided to swap.

Those guys also run their diffs low on oil. Little bit different ball game.

I don't have to ask them, I've seen it. For 95% of the race cars out there it will never make a difference and the 400 will hold up better.
