possible th350 swap?????
I have a M6 as most of you know, but Im really thinking about a th350 swap.
Most of the stuff in the trans section is for LS1s and not LT1s so I have a couple questions.
What All do I need for the swap.
Trans
converter
flexplate
shifter.
Trans cooler and lines
A4 console (not needed but better looking)
Is that it? Am I missing something?
I read you can use a M6 cross member, if I get a long tail shaft I can reuse the DS, wire the trans to the clutch switch, use the M6 computer tuning, and just take out the clutch pedal
Sound about right??????

You must be another guy who is sick of missing shifts. Ive had enough and started at looking into doing the swap today. I wish I could do the gear vendors OD too, but I doubt it.

That's pretty much it. Stock length DS will work with a 9in tailshaft trans. And believe me, it is TONS of fun to drive. My buddy who has a 6spd looks forward to driving my car because he claims it's way more fun.

AC, thats the best way to go. **** tons cheaper than a compirably equiped
4l60e or 80e. Look into ATI transmissions, I hear they do awesome work and make the BEST one-off converters at a competitive price.
AK95TA, Its not about missing shifts. Its about the more consistent launch, quicker shifts, and less abuse of the rest of the car. Auto is really the only way to go for any serious racing.

Im looking at this trans.
have a TH350 Long tail shaft tranny for sale bought this for my malibu but never installed it. was behind a 383 Stroked s-10 from what i understand and they went to a powerglide.
JW Bellhousing .Kolene steels, Red Alto, Kevlar line race bands, reverse manual valve body. Also has a deeper trans pan looks like it can hold an extra quart of fluid.

reuse your m6 console instead, it works out much better with aftermarket shifters. i've got a converter you might be interested in..... i'll pm you the full specs when i hear back from the company

This is what you need....
Turbo 350 medium tail
fitz-all kit for 700r4 to th350
a tailsection off of a 4L60E
converter
Lokar flexible braided dipstick
tranny cooler of your choice + whatever lines you want.
The medium tail th350 is the exact same length as a 4L60E. The fitz all kit is a big spacer that allows the tail section of the 4L60E to be bolted up to a th350. What this does is allow your tranny to bolt right up to a stock 4th gen crossmember and also allows your speedo to work because the reluctor is in the 4L's tail.
The Lokar dipstick is the only one that works and it sucks because it is agonizingly slow to fill the tranny. Basically you plug the tail and fill it with a funnel on the bench, or else you'll be there for weeks trying to get 5+ quarts through that dipstick, lol.
Converters? Spend big money and do it right the first time.
You will be solid 10's and will actually be able to bracket race your car now!

Thanks for the info!!
Ill have him measure the TS b4 I buy it. I actually hear you can foot brake a better 60 but its just not as consistent. Oh and Ill only be getting a good converter for it.

Not true at all about the foot braking. It is 100% possible to foot brake just as good as a tranny brake, but MOST cars will do it a little better off of a t-brake. Your reaction times will be WAY more consistent with a tranny brake because you are leaving with the push of a button rather than a mash of the gas pedal AND a release of the brake pedal.

Certain setups react better with a foot-brake while others are better off with a t-brake. It all really depends. It's nice to have a t-brake anyway
Also I would recommend a quality converter for sure. Trans-spec makes a nice bolt-together for around a grand. There are others that make similar ones for way over a grand. I am happy with them and their product.
Glad to see you're switching to a 3-speed dude, you won't regret it!
