Default do i need a new timing cover?

i am in the process of putting a cam in my car and i realised my timing cover had a piece missing is this bad?

It may be hard to see but towards the left lip on the bottom that attaches to the oil pan it has a chipped off piece. Will that still seal or should i find a new one?

I would just get a new/used one. I wouldn't chance it. Only because its a lot of work to get it off if it does happen to leak, ya know.

It doesn't seem as if it would seal good. I would get a new one to play it safe.

I would be looking for the piece that broke off, it's probably in your oil pan.

I'd run it. There is a lot of pressure on the sealing surface being so close to the bolt. And when you compare it to the other side there is realy not that much missing.
