Default Well i made a stupid mistake and need serious opinions

I will not try to lie here,i made a stupid mistake and i need to live with it.Also without the real fact, i will never get real help ...

Two weeks ago i was racing\ridding with one of my friends(350sbc s10).I just had my new hood with my lid setup installed and i was driving with a lot of spirit...So during a race at the end of the second gear(WOT\6300rpm\ 70mph+) i smash the gear lever for the 3rd gear but missed it and ended up smashing it in 1ST .Of course a big and loud noise ...I put it in neutral right after but the damage was done.

The rest of the storie is kinda nigthmare to me(after 6 years of built).Since i could hear some bad whinning, i ve changed all the bearings\shims\bolts in my 12 bolts and even put a new gear.I also rebuilt my tranny(entirely with even better parts than tickperformance).

Since that day i ve made around 200 miles. The car start without any problem.Keep his idle, doesnt got any weird or bad noise(like rod knocking or anything else)and drive like a normal car but...

It keep running hotter and hotter has the miles past.I mean my car never get hotter than 185 even in heavy traffic. My fan would start once in a while and would stop.

Now my fan never stop,i thought that it was because my start point was too low.Im a now at 200degree start point. In city, not even in heavy traffic the car would get 200 degree really quickly and my fan would have a hard time to stop.My low coolant light also came on...

So im thinking about maybe some bent valve and blown head gasket. Before spending some money(again )His there anyway to check quickly and easily to find if i got one or maybe 2 of these problem...

Thanks

Go rent a radiator pressure tester wherever you can, you'll know fast enough if you have a bad head gasket or not. If all is well, you should be able to press up your cooling system to just below radiator cap pressure, and it'll sit there all day.

Is it showing any signs of missing/backfiring?

Well my lt4 got less than 6000 miles on it.So hoping for something a little less bad than your tpi.

If it's not backfiring, chances are the valves are ok.

I got no backfire but i also realise in my datamaster log that since that stupid day my car is running pig rich at idle (116 blm and lower) compare to my perfect one at 126\126...

valve, headgasket, piston, bent/broke rod, lifter....

pull off your oil fill cap and lightly rev the motor up.... if it smokes worse and worse as rpms go up then you have a hole in a piston more than likely...

pull out your sparkplugs and see what they look like... do a compression test while they are out.

check your oil and make sure its not milky.....

.... thats a shitty deal man, i had a crate 350 and mucie 4speed in an Iroc Camaro and did the same thing when i was 15 on a school permit, hahaha... so i feel your pain!

I did the same exact thing my first time at the strip with my old Z28. I was trying to get into the 13's (kept pullin 14.0 and 14.1) and went for third but accidentally went into
1st. A big cloud of smoke came out and you can hear the crowd go Oooohhh!!! I have it on video but the funny thing was, the car wasnt messed up at all, it just kept going. In fact, I made like 5 more passes that day. The car never had any problems and i drove it for 2 more years till I sold it. Later I got a Pro 5.0 shifter which prevents this if I remember right. Might wanna get one if you havent already.

i did that a couple times before i did the shifter, shifter cup, and ****. It never hurt anything, but sure made the rear do a hell of a dance.

Some small updates after letting the car cool down all night:

-My radiator is near empty so i must loose some coolant somewhere...
-My oil level is now 1\2 inch higher on the dipstick than it was...

So if im being logical: my coolant is going slowly in my oil

I will get a leak down test done on it tuesday.

yep, thats no good, pop the plug on the oil pan, if there is any milky **** it will come out right away and you wont have to drain it all. But then again if there is you might as well drain it all......so you can pull the motor....so you can do the head gaskets...unless you do it in the car witch suck big time.

Tuesday i ll get the real result.I already got some option in my mind

1-If its the head gasket only and my heads and valve are ok i ll will throw an AI cam kit in it(226\234 or 230\238 but i dont wanna go over 6300rpm with stock short block).

2-If its the head gasket and some bent valves i will think about a head and cam kit from AI but since it wasnt in my plan to do this i will have to wait because money could be an issue.

With either choice i ll install a 24x kit because im tired of not doing my own tuning because of tunercats.

i dont really see how any of this could result in a blown headgasket... and what kind of shifter are you using? I mean I've done a 3-2 "upshift" a few times, but you'd have to be banging pretty hard in the wrong direction to hit first
