Its Flat...

I am planning to paint my car satin black...very similar to this look but with more sheen to it, using Dupont paint with clear that has been flattened. I have an old formula bumper at the paint shop now letting them paint it so I can see how it is going to look before painting the whole car.
What kind of hood is that? I like that better than any of the other Z hoods I have seen.

the flats are harder to take care of than real paint, any fingerprint, handprint, elbow, forearm prints have to be wiped off, morning dew will dry leaving spots, same with rain. if you drive through rain and it clears up, you have dirty streaks..
if i were spending the time and money to epoxy prime a car correctly i would go ahead and shoot it a real color. theres a place for flat paint, and its hunting and the army, not a car.
imo, i dont even think flat colors look good on old hotrods, just an excuse to be lazy and not do a real paint job, or someones trying to hide bad body work or no bodywork at all..

and if i were going to spend the money on a gallon of good clear i sure as hell wouldn't dull it up...
if you want it shiney at some point after, you get to pay for a paint job again.. so do it right the first time, and save yourself some money.

I'm not a big fan of the hood, but the flat black looks pretty cool. I also like those wheels.
Is that corn or soybeans in the distance?

You beat me to it! IMO sometimes flat looks nice. It just depends on your taste. If I was going to be driving on dirtier roads all of the time, and didn't have as much time to clean up my cars I would probably consider doing a flat clear. The only problem is that if you get a scratch or something it can't be buffed out.
