Default What lifters

ok i just go a new z28 its a 93 and the guy i got it form told me to change the lifters to roller lifters because of what the car has that the stock ones wont hold up. So i need some advice on witch ones i need and why i need them. The car has been bored .30 over so its a 355 with Speed-Pro Power Forged Pistons, stock rods and crank, port polished heads, valve work, port polished intake, lt4 hot cam, 3100 stall,LT1 VORTEC SB 1.6 roller rockers, beehive springs, 52mm stock tb, lt pacesetter headers, 3.73 gears, tuned chipped ecu, msd coil, Taylor 10.4 mm wires, CAI, ORY, i have most of the recites for the all the parts listed and recites from the machine shop so im positive the car has all these parts and the motor only has about 350 miles on it.... the only thing that was concerning me was that i can hear a ticking coming for both sides of the motor its kind of loud... i ask the guy what that was and he told me that it was the stock lifters and that's why i need new ones and to use 15w-40 oil or the motor will start to tick louder does this sound right you you all

Stock lifters (in good condition) are more than capable of handling that setup. If you need to replace them because they aren't in good condition, stock replacement (LS7s) are plenty. I'm running the LS7s in my 383 FWIW.

^ What RamAir said, I'm running LS7s. Silly question though, did you by any chance try adjusting the rockers?

here is a method many use : http://www.classiccarauto.com/impala...t_valves.shtml

I would surely go over the valve adjustment 1st.

The Ls7 lifters will be a nice setup if you do not resolve the tick with the adjustment. I run them in my 396 and use them often on builds in shop.

good luck

If you order stock replacement lifters, you will get the LS7s.

I just replaced mine with stock style replacements from Howards Cams. Their lifters are made by Morel who make some of the best lifters out there. And they were $150/set. They also feature a redesign that restricts the flow of oil to the roller rockers, which don't need to be bathed in tons of oil, and keeps the majority of oil in the bottom end...Just adding that there are other good choices, too.
