Default Stock 10 bolt !

Ok. I assume you probably get this question often, but I'm computer retarded and tried to search for answer but didn't find anything.

So here it goes. How much power are you guys pushing at the lil 10 bolt ?
And how fast have you went with it at the drag strip.
What modification can be done to beef it up ?

Best regards.

you can beef it up by replacing it with a 12 bolt or 9 inch....thats what ive heard ...most people here say to not even waste your time or money building 10 bolts if your goin to the strip

I had 3.73's, TA cover, and completely rebuilt by a professional. It last 2 times at the track. Since then.....the other 4 have lasted a bit longer. But it's a crap shoot! The bad thing is the fact that when one usually goes, it takes something with it! I have had to replace 4 transmissions (one built by frank at CPT) a torque arm and a drive shaft. It gets EXPENSIVE. With all the $$ I have spent replacing parts I could have bought me a NIIIICE rear end. With that said, I'm still using a 10 bolt! My car is probably ~ 400 RWHP on the motor.

I've ran so far 13.1 @ 115 Mp/h with 2.6 60. ft
I want to try it on slick's on asphalt track. I'm running A4 with 3500 rpm stall and 3.73 with Lincoln locker.
So then i might be push it to it's limits.

Best regards.

is your car a m6 or a4? the stick cars are alot harder on the 10 bolts.some people have better luck with the stocker then others. I replaced mine with a moser 9 inch before it broke just to save the hassel. As far as beefing them up, you can get a TA girdle, new axles, weld the tubes. But if you going to spend all that money, just spend a couple more hundred bucks and get a 9 inch or 12 bolt. hope this has helped.

Autos tend to be more friendlier to 10bts. But i think that its the way you drive it basically how well you can shift. Granted it not easy to shift smoothly at 6k but you get my drift

my good friend on here "SpeeddensityZ"
Went 11.67 @ 121 on a stock 10bolt with a M6

His dad went
10.xx @ 13x with the same 10 Bolt before he bought his 12 bolt on a 200 shot
1.5 60'

some last forever and others don't its a toss up I suppose...

Last six years on nitrous running mid 11s with 60 foots in the 1.6 zone. Stock limited slip 10 bolt with stock 3.23 gears. Mine is an auto which is A LOT easier on the rear end.

cheap way to do a 10blt is
weld axle tubs
use either 2 pass side axles or 2 drivers..i forgot what it is..been awhile
t/a cover
rachet spacer
3.73 gears are thicker then 4.11s
..

Even then, you don't address the weak point of the high pinion placement and small ring gear diameter. It still isn't bulletproof at this point.
