Why 5 qts. of oil? You planning on changing it at 500 miles or something? For a trip like that I check the fluids, check the tires, fill the tank and drive. 1000 miles is a nothing trip.

its not 1k trip its 2k+ trip, in my head I was thinking just going their, but not coming back hahah. I alway brought 5 quart and 1 new oil filter, cause few year back we travel on friend car and his oil filter blow ( dam fram ), so we stuck in middle of no where without oil, we wait 4 hours to the tow truck to come, so from that day I alway bough oil and filter with me, just incase.

Pretty good idea on a 2k mile trip. Make sure you got your spare (check all your tires pressure) and all fluids topped off/clean and you'll be fine.

In my 35 years of driving, I've only ever seen that happen once (blow the filter off), and this is the second time I've even heard of it happening. The one I saw was an Acura, on an autocross track. Sure made for a slippery corner!

When it blow , rear tires hit it, and we though it was a rock, until 30-40 miles later, we heard knocking and smoking under the engine. that when we stop to find out we missing oil filter and load crap of oil, I think the guy who install the filter dint tight it enought and it come loose, but anyway I alway bought extra one, hehe,

any more input on these. BTW any body can show me tip , im going to tight the bolt on header and Y pipe again, any body know any tip to make that bolt not coming loose again ?

I just took a 600 mile trip. St Paul to mt rushmore. 1200 mile total. I changed the oil before I left and everything went fine. 140k on mostly stock 95 lt1 camaro. Every fill up I averaged about 20 Mpg when my gf drove for 1 tank she got 27 mpg. So expect to fill about every 275 miles or so. Unless you don't want to have Fun. Then more like 325. But then why drive the camaro in the first place? Good luck with your oil filter.
