Cause heads are more expensive and a cam only setup will make more power. So it's half backwards, but not pointless either.

Realistically, you could have a set of heads that flow as much air as you could ever need, but if you're using a stock or small cam those heads will be a huge waste because the cam won't allow them to perform to their potential.

I still see nothing wrong with worked heads on a stock cammed motor,some do cam only and the heads dont really support too much in stock form so getting the big expense done first was a decision OP chose....Maybe there was a problem with his original heads or ?????????? None of that really matters OP chose to do it this way.
If heads were ported properly there will be a gain and i do agree with 1.6 or 1.7 rockers on this set up.......

I was referring to the people saying his idea is pointless without fact to back it up. Arguing cam only gains vs head only gains is like arguing the sky is or is not blue.
