Question le2 only heads hp gain?

ive been searching for how much hp gain that only the le2 heads will give me. ive been searching online and i can only find dyno results for the le2 head and cam package. so how much hp gain will i get from just the le2 heads on my 94 Z.

Not much. The point in porting the heads is to allow more air/fuel to flow opened up by a more aggressive camshaft. Doing ported heads alone will maybe give you 10 or 15HP.

They trapped 115 with my crane 227, 118 with my old 224/230 .600 bre cam, and trapped the same after they got the LE2 port work done to them. I guess looks can be deceiving. They flowed around 240cfm on lloyds bench IIRC.

I had no problem pulling away from bolton LT1's when I thought I just had a CAI.

Did you tune the car for the heads? I bet if you did you would of seen better gains.

I have every bolton except a EWP and LT's with TD"s ( i mac's, no cat, e cutout hooker exhaust) so with the two mods above I would have another 15rwhp.

I put down 323/338 at the wheel with the other boltons I would of been at 338/353. Now add 7-8hp for the lid I just got and put me at 345/360.

The small amount of gasket matching and the valvejob really did a lot for me. 345rwhp out of a bolt on car is unheard of. 20HP has to be from the port work and gasket matching.

With Le2's I see 25-30hp provided you get 1.6 rockers to add some lift to the stock cam.

I guess the hotcam just didnt have enough lift to take advatage of the extra flow the le1 heads gave me? I had a half *** tune. The tune i'm working on now seems to alot better! AFGS are @ 290 now So that puts me right around 320whp corrected for my altituude. Guess I'll see what it runs at the track.

I ran a 12.93 at 106mph 1.83 60ft with Hot Cam and bolt-ons, NO TUNE. Something was wrong with your setup dude...

I hope you are going to get some 1.7rr to go with that. 1.6rr are not enough. 1.7rr should put you at about .500+ lift so you can take advantage of those heads better...

You'd benefit far more fom leaving the heads stock and running an aftermarket cam only. Why cheap out on the cam? From LE they're only around $300 for whatever you want, and the intake and heads will be off anyway....

Should be more than that. I did heads only with 1 5/8" shorty headers with stock exhaust (cats included) and went from 13.9's/14.0's @ 99 to 100mph to 13.2 @ 106.

Like slowmaro, I made decent gains with what I'm running but left some on the table.
I'm not sure what LE2s flow or what CCs they are but when I ported my stockers to 180ccs intake and like 65cc exhaust(64-65cc I can't remember exactly) they went from 203cfm intake and 148cfm exhaust stock to 272cfm and 196cfm after porting and 2.000/1.550 valves. I made 336rwhp and 325lbs of tq with a 218/224 .570 lift cam, pacesetter mids, #30 injectors and Moroso CAI and 52mm Edelbrock Hooker catback, stock trans. That is a baby cam compared to some of the stuff others run on the street. No long tubes, no EWP, but has gasket matched intake manifold. I would def. get a cam if you update the heads. Besides, you are already half there with all the work to get the heads off.

Of course a cam would enhace the ported heads however the Lt4 production 330hp cam is similar to the Lt1 cam very small differences
http://grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm#CAM
Lt4 heads flow better than stock Lt1s so porting the Lt1s will be a bit better than stock Lt4s using similar cam specs.

My post is not to cause an argument or anything of the sort!I just feel OP will have no problems with having only ported heads. If N2o is used the car will be an animal with stock cam....At the very least he can get a cam that does match his heads flow rate. JMO
