I love my LT1. Cost was much less than an LS1 and I have plenty of fun with it.

I love my car because I dont see many of them. Clean LT1 cars are much harder to find, let alone non crashed running 6 speed cars. Clean LS1 cars are everywhere, despite more LT1 cars being sold than LS1.

Either way, its a SBC and I have tons of great memories in my Camaro.

agreed LTx cars are Way cheaper and still Just as much fun. I Just picked up yesterday a 95 TA that had spun a bearing or two in the bottom end with a laundry list of aftermarket parts on it for 1800. This Car is Mint and i already have a 383 LT-4 Sitting at home waiting to be assembled.

LOL! You're laughing! Did you see the YouTube vid of the guy who scored one for $300 with hotcam etc? Thing is like new. I can't believe how many people can't fix these, get scared and sell them for nothing.

AGREED!

On another forum this kid posted up about a '95 Trans/Am Covertible in Teal green with a tan top and tan leather interior. The car had a blown headgasket, but the guy only wanted $1800 iirc. Other than that the car was real nice. For guys like us it's a no brainer to fix something like that, just takes a weekend and $100 in gaskets, maybe longer if you get the head checked out. LT1 cars like this pop up all over the place if you look.

The simple fact is anything an LT1 has done an LSx has done better/faster.

Im gonna throw my .02 into the ring, there is always going to be a better or faster car than you guaranteed, the argument about the ls1 being faster than an lt1, well sure it is, but a 2j with very minimal work will be much faster than an ls1, its about building something that you can be proud of, no matter how much faster the other guy is

He said he couldn't find it. Can you post info on the stock block LS1 that is faster? Not the C5R, or the aftermarket blocks. The aluminum one that came with the car, STOCK. Do tell.

So you want to penalize the lsx cars because they have a ton of block options and the lt1 is stuck with the gm block?

BTW I'm not sure what record you are talking about but if you are talking about the fastest 6-speed car it's an lt1 but it isn't tanner.

I stick with mine because I like having something to work on. The damn LS1 in my vette has only broken once, but boy did it break.

Seriously, I didn't swap to a Gen III or IV in my T/A because I like the LT1. I find it fun to take what's perceived to be an inferior platform and see what I can get out of it. I like that it's considered archaic at this point. I like that it's 90% snubbed by the industry anymore. I'm VERY VERY familiar with working on them too.

It's consoling to think that way. Let them grieve.
Glen Burnie Racing in Glen Burnie, MD just put together a motor that made 968hp N/A.

And if it hasn't, the entire engineering group at GM responsible for the LS1 should be fired. The next generation of engine development better damn well be an advance over the previous model.

I thought we were going to try and get back to the original topic, but it looks like the temptation to rehash the LTX/LSX argument for the one millionth time is too strong for some.
