Default 5716g head gaskets..

Anybody ever hear of any issues running these on alum head cars?

I've heard of plenty running the impala gaskets, and I know they are both for steel heads, but anyway...

I was planning on getting these for the slightly larger CR bump.

I've run them on 5-6 different combinations, all of which had aluminum heads. I never had any issues with them myself.

If you're going to be H/C, I'd consider Cometic. You can get their MLS in custom thicknesses and bores all day long http://cometic.com/custom.aspx. For a mild performance or stock application looking for a SCR bump, look at GMPP 12553160 (.028").

It's for a stock headed car. I only want the compression bump until I either do heads or my bottom end.

Thanks guys.

I ran the once with no issues. the second time the black elastomer coating came off the gaskets when I took them out of the packaging (that is a common issue) I'd recomend the impala gaskets because the way they are packaged there is no chance for them to get fubard like the mr gaskets. The impala and mr gaskets look identical I actually think there the same gasket but with different packaging and the thickness is just meassured slightly different, because I've had both side by side an couldn't tell a difference although I didn't meassure them to see the thickness difference.

I first installed a pair on my son's 96 LT1 a year ago under DART PRO1s for the same reason - compression. The DARTS have 58cc chambers Vs 54.x for the stockers so I wanted to re-capture any loss C.R.

Not a single problem. Factor in how 23 year olds are; who tend to keep their right foot planted whenever possible.

Same here, not a single issue.

Just make sure the head and block surfaces are straight which is critical no matter what gasket you use.

I have those for sale and Those heads will withstand high amounts of cylinder pressure for boost/spray applications. Lloyd recommends them for either stock heads or ported to raise the compression and they are more stout compared to the cheaper impala gaskets.

Pretty stout when you carefully take them out of the vacuum sealed package and there fubard.
