I completely disagree. The reason the lid offers a gain is because the 90 degree intake elbow on a traditional CAI is a proven restriction. Gains are 95% from eliminating that restriction and maybe 5% from any ramming effect you might get without a tunnel. You WILL see the gains on the dyno.

My cam only car used to fall on its face past a certain RPM with my old SLP CAI. After doing the lid i need to adjust my rev limiter because Ive been using that as my shift light now

I dont have before and after numbers at the dyno or track, but my butt dyno tells me 10rwhp is a VERY conservative estimate. I felt as much of a gain as i did when i put longtube headers on. The car was a whole different animal!

I'm sorry. I'm just going off things I read about how it worked for other people. I just finished mine a few days ago. It does feel like putting longtubes on again. It was a great gain and I still have a stock lid. I can't wait to order one this weekend. This was a ton of work to make everything fit right but knowing how long it took I would still do it again.

if you have a stock lid you will gain even more when you switch to a different one

That's exactly what I want to hear. lol. I'm getting so impatient waiting for pay day. This is the first time ever that I can't find a lid used. I've had a post in the WTB section for a few weeks now with no luck.

That is a gain I can deal with. What was done to your car at the time?

I did forget to say that when I got my air box/rad support from the junk yard I only paid $10 for it because the corner was cracked and the guy let me have the K&N filter that was in it for free. I cleaned and oiled it and the thing looks brand new.

When GMHTP did some tests the SLP came out best for fitment, sealing, and power gains.

The SLP lid looks the cleanest, too IMO.

I highly doubt a lid mod will give you 20rwhp over a traditional CAI setup.

the gain also depends alot on the demands of your existing mods. A setup like mine that was already putting down 350+rwhp is going to benefit more than a stock engine would as most of the gain was north of 5000 RPM.

I'm happy with my SLP lid and K&N filter for sure. They seem to be pretty easy to find... I think I got mine for $60 with the filter about a year ago, they are definitely out there. I felt a night/day difference with this mod vs my moroso CAI, it took forever, but I feel it was definitely worth it. I would say a solid 10-20hp. Another thing to think about is how much air our engines actually suck through the filter. I read an interesting article somewhere that showed how much air the engine needs vs what it actually gets and those twisty turvey CAI's dont hold enough air inside them to give the engine what it needs. I also felt a giant improvement in throttle response. I think the shorter overall length of the air intake system is able to deliver a higher volume of air more efficiently. Long story short... SLP lid should work great for you, have fun!

I plan to use an SLP lid. Plus it has that cap on the drivers side of the lid that I plan to drill and use for an opti-spark.

Anyone need a K&N filter? I got one with my $60 air box off ebay and I already got one.

All the SLP lids on ebay are new and cost as much as they do from anywhere else. Ebay stores also have more expensive shipping. I'll keep checking back for used ones. I need this lid before next thursday.
