Default LS1 lid conversion: what lid to buy?

I just finished an LS1 lid conversion and for now I'm using a stock lid with a silencer. I'm looking for and aftermarket lid but wanted to see what everyone had to say about what's out there. I have a Glasstek 4" cowl hood so clearance is not an issue. I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck. Thanks.

You're better off doing a search in the LS1 Engine forum rather than a post in the LT1 forum.........I bet this has been beaten to death.

Just tell him, damn. Do not reply at all if all you're going to say is "do a search". The thread is already here and takes the same amount of time to answer.

All basic lids are the same, period. The only difference among lids are when you start going up in size to match bigger TBs and intake manifold combos.

Thank you so much for saying it before me. If you're on this site and all you can say is "do a search" you obviously don't have the answer and are just wasting my time. It's not so hard for those of you who have this mod to say "I like this one because..." or "this one sucks because...". The search on this site doesn't ever give me anything I'm looking for anyway.

Anyway, I was just wondering if there's anything I should steer clear of or anything that might be on sale right now. For those who actually helped please teach the others to be useful. LOL. If you have to say this subject has been beaten to death you need to find a life outside the internet.

It's looking like this is the most common lid. Also the cheapest right now.

Nice!! This is the info that helps. The only other thing I'm worried about is fitment but that shouldn't be a problem with any lid. I have a lot of extra room. Thank you all for the info.

Does anyone have any dyno numbers for an LT1 with a CAI before then converted to a lid?

I had a Trickflow elbow and a Moroso CAI before this. Just look at the setup. My old setup had the filter behind my bumper cover getting very little air and 2 90 degree bends before the air made it to the tb. The LS1 lid setup is a straight shot getting cold air from under the car.

avoid the whistler lid, thats what I got cause it was a good deal and I assumed there wasn't any difference. well idk for sure but I would think other lids like the slp are made out of a higher quality of plastic that has some flex to it, the whistler lid is made out of a hard & brittle plastic that seems like you could break it dropping it etc

A dyno will show little to no gains from this mod. On a dyno you just have a fan trying to keep the car from overheating on the pulls. Out on the street you're moving so air is being forced into your intake.

its not ram air and I could swear I've seen posts on here claiming ~10-20rwhp gains in the past..

It could easily be made into a ram air setup. If any gains you will see them at the track, not on the dyno. 10-20 does seem right though.

Ok, I fully understand the reasoning now.. I have the conventional "ram air" box and was just wondering how it would have been different.

On a ram air T/A there really isn't a difference. This mod is mainly for Camaros that have the intake routed down behind the bumper.
