Stock longblock is pretty vague. They are in the 10's with power adders,
11.4x na with a carb.????

Stock longblock as in untouched? High 13's at best. Your 10 bolt will last awhile if you're an auto and don't beat on it too bad.

I don't know if some realize a stock long block would be a stock cam & heads.

Lots of people run 12's with just bolt-ons. Like I said above, Shon Herron
11.8x, Tim Cowle carbed 11.4x and of course Jon Beam 10.9 Procharged, all with a rocker swap I'm sure, but stock long block otherwise.

Stock longblock would imply no mods done to the car at all, you know, stock from the factory. Power adders are another story depending on how you see it.

Doesn't Shon Herron hold have some sort of stock long block record?

Shon HAD the record, now Tom Cowle has it, for the stock longblock. Basically it is the "bolt-on" record. Headers, cai, and anything goes with the chassis. Stock intake, cam, heads, block, pistons, etc, etc.

bolt-on record is 11.481 @ 118.98

As far as taking a 10-bolt far, there are lots of guys in the 10's with theirs. Keep in mind that you can invest a lot of money into one with better axles, stronger posi's aftermarket gears, a girdle, etc, etc. They still won't be as strong as a 12-bolt or a Dana60 or whatever though. I wouldn't hesitate to run one into the mid 11's with an auto car. They seem to be ok at that level.

When looking at those "records" you need to look at car weights. A 2600 lb car is going to be about second quicker than a 3600 lb car. Most 60' times I see here are really sad. A light car that will 60' on the low 1.30s will be a lot quicker that a high 1.40 (or even worse) 60' in a heavy car. Same power level. Anybody weigh these "record holders"? Take 1000 lbs out of a car and you look a lot smarter to the guys that don't know any better.

It's refreshing to see someone who gets it. Those who do weight reduction really don't like to talk about it either.

If you gut a car to a hulk, and are not a day or so faster than the rest of the guys, your just a dumb-***. Pounds are the same as HP.

Tim cowle had a different intake. I'd say intake is part of a longblock.

Bottom end, cam, heads, intake is a longblock... to me at least.

The intake is not considered part of a long block. Everything else is, minus all the accessories of course.
