Default 1997 ws6 build up, questions!!!

I got a 1997 WS6 T/A with 64k miles on it. Its got LTs and a Borla catback, it has a cam in but I am not sure what size, is there a way to tell what size a cam is in it? Also I was gonna get some LE2 heads for it and port and polish the intake, should I just get a new cam along with the heads so I know whats in it for sure or can I just tune it with the existing cam? Also I am gonna put a 3000 stall in and 3.73 gears in it any suggestions on the stall I should use. Lastly what kind of suspension mods should I use? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

keep the ram air. There are guys running lots of hp with the stock ram air. throw a K&N in it and call it a day.

Tune with existing cam. If it doesn't behave the way you want then buy a new one then.
3000 stall is too small. Especially for a h/c car. Get 3600 minimum.
LCAs, relocators/SFCs are the big ones.

3600 for the street, 4K for the strip. The only way to tell what cam is in there is to pull it out and look for a grind number

Get a cam matched to the head work you have done (or want to have done) and definatly get a stahl in the 3600-4000 range.

Start with the basics as there is no point in putting more power at it and not being able to get it to the ground. I would highly suggest getting some suspension work and transmission work before getting into the motor. Its better to have the stuff already done to take the power and get it to the ground. The basics for suspension id get some lower controls arms with relo brackets and a panhard bar. From there you can go with subframe connectors, torque arm, and a rear sway bar. New rear shocks are also a good idea with performance in mind. Your already looking at beefing up the transmission which is awesome and that 3600 will work great any heads/cam setup.

You got the right idea... good luck with the build. Post pics!
