Default how much do our cars actually weigh?

i find it hard to believe that the early lt1's weigh close to 2 tons, because(im not saying our cars are extremely fast) but the power to weight ratio and true acceleration, dont make sense to me?

and while i'm questioning, how come a 500 hp 4th gen, can beat a 900 hp supra in a 1/4

not bragging but i raced a 700hp supra(supposedly) and i lost, but it should have been a blowout but it wasnt

ugh this **** confuses me lol

a LT1 keeping up with a "700 HP" supra huh seems like the guy you raced needs to be punched in the face if your car stayed close to it. Horsepower Sales Torque wins always remember that!

well i mean, it was a single turbo supra, so maybe it was just massive turbo lag, and have u ever seen true torque numbers for them, its sad to be honest

basically my question is why does a 900 hp supra run low 11's, but a 900 hp 4th gen run low 10's mid 9's if our cars are so much heavier?

They don't weigh that much. You always hear people say that their cars weigh 3800-3900 or whatever when they run a slow time at the track. They weigh 3300 (1LE)-3500 (loaded) right from the factory. You'd have to add a full tank of gas, a monster stereo system, a rollcage, fire suppresion system, etc, etc to get them that heavy. It's not easy to add 300lbs to a car like some poeple would lead you to believe.

Well some people are just fat assess hence why the car weights so much.

my point, why does it seem like cars with higher power(and higher praise) are actually slower in the 1/4

many of the small engine big HP on turbo cars are turds at the line, time lost at the line is REALLY REALLY hard to make up. I have beat a lot of cars in the 1/4 mile where another 100ft would have given them the win light because they were charging hard.

Incidentally my LT1 car is over 2 tons BUT mine is not a little 2 door unibody car, it is a 4dr with a chassis out of the 70s.

The MAIN reason why F-Bodys are faster than similarly powered Supras in the quarter mile is because of this important reason:

Supra drivers feel totally awesome and hip running 19" Racing Hart wheels with Falken Azenis which are exactly what you do not want for drag racing, while most serious F-body drivers are smart enough to run 16" Welds with Mickey Thompsons.

Whenever a Supra runs a low 11 its at like 1342356367mph rather than somewhere around 120 like you'd expect.

OP, the answer to your question is in the 60' times.

Unless you drive a convertible with a 12bolt. I probably have one heavy car, even though it has a full tubular kmember and no A/C.

no back seat, spare, jack
4pt mild steel cage and nitrous system with 10# bottle

but now weighs 3150# with 190-200# driver ...even though I updated the cage, added an auto tranny, and 12 bolt rear.

My TA when it was boltons only with a fiberglass hood, half tank gas, no driver with some mild weight reduction. No emissions, borla, no sound dead material, was 3340 no driver.
Then to **** me off I take my fathers bone stock 96Z28 full stereo and leather, half tank filled them up at the same time. 3460 bone stock!!!

LOL, very true. It seems to be a mental condition that affects not just Supra owners, but the owners of 90% of cars making over 600 rwhp. I'll never understand this phenomenon.

Internet says my 1995 Z28 vert factory curb weight was 3480#. It actually weighs in now (no driver) at 3800# or so. I verified this on a scrap yard truck scale.

The big hitters on my car to raise the weight are true dual exhaust, C6 wheels and heavy 285/40/17 tires, stereo equipment which consists of two 8" subs in a small cabinet and two large amps and a fabbed 9" rearend. I find it difficult to believe that all of this added ~300# but who knows?

With me in it, it weighs 4050# with zero regard to weight reduction since its not a race car.
