FYI-LT1 Bolt on car was 3150 with 235# driver so the car itself was 2915. It was stripped, ie no interior/plastic/carpet.
I have weighed everything in the car I could take off...with that being said, a car without driver could easily be 3000# and still retain door panels, carpet, and plastic. and actually can be less if one was to have aftermarket brakes/etc.
This was with K-member/A-arms/T56 and homebuilt LCA/PHB, no SFCs.

With minimum effort a hard top car can be at 3400#s and retain airbags, carpet, etc and for the bolt on cars to actually run well there can not be alot of weight.

I know if I had a bolt on car I would want it as light as possible but if the rules stated carpet, 2 seats, glass, plastic type stuff then I would make sure it was all there per the rules but it was be as light as possible, b/c I want to see 11sec bolt ons, not 12 sec index racing :-)

I like the idea of doing a tech at the hotel the night before and what about weight (if there has to be one) just the car, taking us fatasses out of the equation of making weight or not making it.....

Allowing potato chips in would kill the street stock nature of the class quicker than allowing open driveline swaps. My car has heat, A/C, windshield wipers, door bars and a radio in it because I actually drive it every day.

Your car is exactly the kind of car that we want to show up and run this car. I feel strongly that the rules that are set should be such that it doesn't take a lot for guys like you to be competetive.

The idea behind having a teardown rule is to keep the "ringers" out. I will say up front that it would have to be pretty blatant for anyone to have to turn a wrench. If that is the case, I have no problem helping someone pull an intake and put it back. Gaskets and materials will be furnished for free. I am way to old and fat to actually want to do this, but without the threat of teardown the class is a fail.

Keep it honest and there will be NO TEARDOWNS.

The same goes for you. We would love to see you run. I for one really appreciate your comments. I can't guarantee that you will get everything you want, but we will do our best to create a level playing field.

Please, everyone keep in mind that the number one goal is to have FUN.

agreed......i would also possibly go to the point to say stock size brakes or larger also......basically all stock replacement stuff is ok......stop the possibility of somebody going with race brakes and lightweight drivetrain components and then just adding balast to the car to make the 3400 and taking advantage of lower reciprocating and spinning weight......again i say stock style replacement suspension is ok.. ...and same thing with brakes

again we need to just kinda hash it out and see what the best rule set is for the class.....

this class is about daily drivers and pure street cars.......no tin cans and purpose built race cars.......

X2 on the corona. And i think all weight minimums need to be raceweight. Not car weight.

I'd love to come and participate! I'm not driving 800+ miles one way (ASSuming BG venue again) to get raped by cars over a second faster though so I will be watching for the official rules carefully. Running with "ringers" kind of kills the fun off. Let's see who has the fastest bolt on driver and can drive it. That would be fun!

We need a medium between bolt on record cars and bolt on daily drivers.

Then call it that, b/c in my world a bolt on car is built to outrun the LS cars with cams and possibly heads...since they have a 70# weight break anyway with the aluminum bottom end, and better flowing heads, etc...

I guess I am viewing this from the wrong POV, the idea (I guess) is to up car counts and have a specific class that is not the 12.0 index. Instead of my POV seeing how far one can push the BOLT ONs ie further than 11.80, granted weather is not going to be condusive to that kind of time slip but I can see a low 12.0/11.99 being had IF there was not some of these proposed rules.

Just let me know what the goal is and I can work around it b/c it appears to be different than what I had in mind.

I don't know, I think we can establish rules that would make for a pretty level field without resorting to indexing. I would like a driver's/tuner's race, not a wallet race or a fastest without breaking out race.

No high life for me Jen. lol and its only cheap because Fat tire is expensive and I couldnt afford car parts if it were my main beer.

Shon I hear ya and kinda originally though the class would be an unlimited class except the engine internally. Although I dont think that many cars would show up. I think the Street Stock Idea can bring in lots of cars that the average guy has.

Everything looks good so far, although I'd have to add pipe to the true duals on my DD car...

PS Tony, In a few days I'll have another cap lying around to send this year...
