ok great its good to finally hear some positives in the towing department. yes mike we'll def haul out together, how much in fuel did it cost u about? now i just need to find the lightest trailer i can find thats dirt cheap lol. well that and a good paying job once im out of school in may lol. i plan on not doing any more bolt on mods and just focusing my finances on just being able to afford the trip and attend the race first and foremost. if anyone knows of a open deck light trailer for dirt cheap let me know!

edit: i got two 2stroke jet skis that need some motor work im willing to trade lol

ok cool yea my dads f-150 should be fine then.

hey if the track was like 2 hours away i'd drive my car their but i mean 18 hours is a long haul and honestly i just dont trust it nor do i want to put the miles on my car. having a trailer has its advantages especially when ur racing over 1,000 miles away

I get that, but I DD my car and it's been from Chicago to Richmond, KY more than once. It's also gone down to St. Louis. I've put 10K miles on it in the past year and a half, and it still gets 21mpg. at 70mph. Personally I look at it this way.....if you're gonna break at the dragstrip, you would have done the same thing romping on it on the street. Personally I think the street is worse for your car....road conditions and traffic are deadly....

JMO.....

I towed my vette on a 18' open (featherlite alum) with 4 race wheels/tires in the bed and a passenger to/from Knoxville, Tn to BG, Ky with a 99 GMC Sonoma ext cab with the 4.3 six banger/auto trans. I also made the trip from Knoxville to Atlanta with the same setup. Trailer brakes and a good controller were needed but I had no issues at all. Even averaged 16mpg. You'll be fine.

I really want to make one of these events. It seems every year something comes up. This year I was all set to come up and was on leave with plenty of $$ saved up. 10 days after I get back from Iraq my heat pump took a dump. $4k later I had ac/heat and an empty wallet.

I think it would be a great class if it could be policed if someone had an issue with the winners.

As far as the cam is concerned...its easy enough to check those with a degree wheel and dial indicator if you've already pulled a cyl. head.....even if you don't it really only needs a valve cover...maybe the intake pulled.....

So if you pull a head and check the cam for the winner/runner up if there is a despute. I would like to think if you win/runner up maybe the shootout could splurge and pay for a top end gasket set for those of us considering driving the car to and from the track......maybe!?!?!

Going to look at a '97 Black Z roller on Saturday.... a fun build for this class possibly?

And as for a trailer, that is a must. There is no way, no matter how mild the setup, that I won't bring a trailer.

Honestly if i felt like the winner was cheating a simple vaccum test would probably satisfy me in terms of making sure their was no cam

Ahhh... no worries Tony. Not sure if I am even going to do the bolt-on class (if there is one) with this car. We will see when I get it. I might throw a cam in it, so than I will be out.

yay! lol na in all seriousness if this class happens the more entry's the better. in the air down at beech bend im sure my junk wont be able to muster up anything better then a high 12.6x pass neways, and that wont win it and i dont have any money for more mods. I just want this class to happen so it gives people like myself a shot at true heads up racing when usually we r too slow to do so.
