Default debating on stall company...

I think I'd rather have one with better efficiency on the top end.

I've narrowed it down to edge or yank. Anybody WITH EXPERIENCE able to tell me which one would be better top end?

I've got a 3200 performabuilt now, but I think I'm leaving a lot on the table, one because I should be closer to 4k, and two because it was never set up for my car, just a generic 3200 build that I got with my tranny.

For mostly track I would opt for a Yank SS 4000 tuned to lockup in 3rd. I almost wish I had one to replace the 3600 dd I have now.

I have NO EXPERIENCE on this matter, yet completely agree with this statement:

Yank seem to have proven their converters here in both LSx and LTx community.

Neil Chance out of Wichita makes some excellent converters from what I have heard.

I have been looking into a 3600-4000 stall myself and I've heard lots of good things about Vigilante and Yank. I think I'm going with the Yank SS3600. Hope this helps.

The general consensus I gathered was 3600 for the street, 4000 and up for the track

I ended up buying a Coan 10" lockup converter. Interesting that someone suggested tuning it for 3rd gear lockup. I'm going to have my PCM tweaked to disable the converter clutch in 3rd gear. Are we talking about the same thing? :S lol

From my experience with Coan they seem to build their 10" max perf converters specific to a person's setup. In fact they recommend getting dyno numbers to base a converter build from, or at the very least a detailed spec list of the engine, car/chassis, and intended purpose. Give those guys a call and talk to them. I had great cs and response the few times I contacted them before making a decision. My converter was build in 2 days and shipped.

Any idea on price for their converters? I may try them if they are comparable to yank pricewise.

I went from a TCI Super Street Fighter 3600 to a Yank SS3600. I dropped my ET 3 tenths and picked up 4 mph with just the Yank and no other mods.

Before I get flamed for using a TCI, I didn't know they were such junk when I got it. I ended up breaking it. I cracked the weld around the pump drive almost all the way around.

This is exactly why I keep going back to yank. Never hear complaints about them. FTI I haven't heard enough about to want to potentially be let down.

Easy shooter, FTI has been in the auto world longer than yank.

I bought an FTI 4400 when I was A4, never used it though.

If your setup is nothing crazy you would probably be best suited buying an "off the shelf" converter from Yank, Vig etc. You dont need anything fancy.

A good converter is ~$700 eh.
