Man but if you find a badass car on the road and get beat you can't the the good ole " I missed 2nd gear" excuse haha. but like Mattsapp said a stalled Auto is tons of fun to drive plus like you said you can't shift a M6 faster then a A4 can do it itself

first- how well do you know this guy?
Second - Have you had the car looked at by a professional or had it up in the air to inspect the chassis and frame?
Thirdly - Do you know any maintence records on the car?
Sometimes theres a peace of mind quality to a car. I use my lincoln for an example, Ive owned it for 4 years, i know it like the back of my hand. I know what components are new and what will need replacing. I know when things were replaced and how they were replaced and if it was correctly done or not.
Knowing where the car sits mechanically means alot more in this hobby then other things.
Ive owned an M6 and now own a Stalled A4. Personally i got tired of shifting, Im more into bikes now anyways so i get my fufilment of shifting, and shifting really fast, plus they are easy to ride/shift in any traffic. I didnt want to deal with a M6 car in rush hour traffic, or in hilly parts of town, or worry about other people driving it and messing up the clutch.
If you do it, deffinetly stall that thing!
People who say youll hate it may not want the same things you want out of a car. To me a stalled auto is more fun then an M6 car. but my driving habits are probably completly different then theirs.
In any instance, get as much info as you can on the car. If its located close to you, try to get it in the air. My car i traded my last bike for has some pretty bad frame/pinch weld/rocker panel damage that i didnt see. I saw the dog leg but didnt look under the car enough to see the pinch weld all messed up. I try to make sure i let people know not to make a mistake like i did, that and the car almost burned down due to hillbilly wireing.

But it does like your getting the better end of the stick......................maybe. I love my auto on the road man half the people that mess with you on the road start messing up and you just leave them in the dust the shift kit gives me enough feel of a stick car with out the hassle and getting to get in my car and just go

1. Better the devil you know (than the devil you don't) - You're familiar with your car and probably know all of the issues and how to fix or deal with them. Trading for the new car means you're starting over with an unknown car.
2. Manuals are harder to come by and usually go for a premium over autos.
3. What is your driving preference? I've had at least one stick car for over 30 years - the one year I didn't I found myself missing the fun of rowing gears.

Mine started out as a A4 and then i switched it out for a M6 and will never go back for a street car that is. If you race it then your going to want the Auto as its way more consistent and does not eat clutchs, rearends, and driveshafts. Its all up to personal preference but if the car the car is a total lemon and you havent even looked at it yet i would much rather keep my own piece of mind that i know the car and not kicking yourself later. As for mileage goes... as long as the car had its routine maintanence mileage has no bearing. My current motor in my car has 220k and has never been opened up yet and runs like a champ. I know some cars that have lasted less than 100k it just depends how theyve been driven and taken care of.
If the car checks out and its half decent and you want to do the trade still i would opti to pull the rearend and swap to a 3.42 or 3.73 gear. You should be able to trade straight up as alot of M6 guys look for them. A shift kit and a nice 3600 stall will make it alot funner to drive but you will always be like ... wish i had the M6 trust me lol.

Sounds like you just may be bored with your car. Its ok, we've all done it. I've read replies and for the most part they are all right! With no pics, its all your call OP. I will say ask why he wants to trade and you may hear your answer. No difference in eng with 120+ to a 150+ at this point its all upt to luck. Think that with 4.10s that eng has maintained higher rpms than a 6spd with 3.42s. The A4 maybe fun with 4.10s but gets old quick with gas going up. Bottom line your car is worth more with the 6spd.

The auto
I've drive a 5.0 with a 3k stall, it was fun. The only thing i didnt like, is that it sounded like i was burning the clutch when taking off.
I also had a 5.0 with a C4 and a ratchet shifter, FUN!!!!

I own both an auto and a 6spd lt1 car. Both are fun, but the auto is a bit more fun in some aspects than the 6 speed. I have a TH350 btw.. that could have something to do with it
