TH400 Swap
What all will need to be changed? I know the basics like DS, crossmember, etc...
Will my SFI 153 tooth flexplate still work for the 400 converter pattern? Do I just use a standard SBC converter? And will the trans bolt right up to the LT1 block?

and to answer a couple of those questions......yes the th400 will bolt right up to the block........the converter pattern should remain the same........and yes you gonna be looking for a sbc converter....
I am using a UMI relocation x member.
The guy who is building my trans is also building my converter, just wanted to get an idea of what he was making me. He is a well-known builder in my area and has a handful of 7sec grudge cars running his stuff. He makes his own billet covers for the converters, etc.
So all I will really need is a dipstick, and a shifter w/ linkage and then figure out how to get my speedo to work
EDIT: i already have a B&M 70274 stacked plate cooler with 3/8" lines so i should be set there too

Rundown of what I am planning:
-UMI crossmember (I have a full length T/A, need it to mount to)
-race built TH400 with billet trans brake RVMB
-billet converter built to spec (somewhere in the 4500 range)
-driveshaft? (no idea what I need)
-Shifter? any suggestions?

I talked to a lot of guys about shifters, and the name that kept coming up was the Turbo Action Cheetah. Nice shifter, and glad I made the choice.

maybe its just the Ai stuff tho... lolnot even talking a strength aspect and putting the brake aside - the gear ratios in the 400 would help both of us out over the steep 1st gear in the 60e.
I bet your times (and mine too) would come down from swapping to a th400
EDIT: I think i'd rather actually have a lockup converter before an OD, but both are really nice to have that I am probably going to miss at some point

yea my main issue is i cant get the right converter into the car.......im running a 9.5" lockup converter at a 4800 stall which isn't high enough and is wayyyyy out of its efficency range at that stall..........with the th350 im loosing weight gaining the tbrake and having the ability to run an 8" race converter......
I am also going to be going with an 8" converter, just as long as it can handle a shot and not blow through it.
Do you know what you are planning on doing for a shifter? I definately want an aftermarlet ratchet shifter, just dont know what brand is best
