Default 3 inch under the axle TD build thread

***SOUND CLIPS ON POST 73***

Figured I'd start a thread on this to help out some guys that drive their cars on the street mostly. I'm ditching my ORY/GMMG setup for a 3 inch under the axle TD system. Being in CA I don't want to take anymore chances with my car being loud as hell and it is getting annoying for a DD. Most people told me to get a Hooker/Magnaflow to replace my GMMG but for the same price after selling it I could have TDs. Here's a breakdown of parts/costs excluding labor (Im expecting around $400)

2 Borla Pro XS Mufflers. 3 inch offset inlet/center outlet. Both will go under the backseats on each sides. I chose these because in a test done by a Mustang magazine they were the quietest out of 12 or 13 different mufflers of all brands including Magnaflow and came 3rd in power behind open Flowtech Warlocks (essentially cutouts) and Hooker Maxflows. Both were $178

Internal shot

My hand on one to put the size in perspective

Thunderbolt Cats/X pipe

Decided to go with these for price/reviews. Several people had good results with these cats and said they looked identical to Magnaflows 59959 highflow cats. For the pair it was $120 shipped. The x pipe was another $30 shipped, looks very similar to the Magnaflow X as well

For me its more than being in CA. I'm way over the raw fuel smell every day driving to work and I know they will quiet it down even more

Aluminized non mandrel bent. There won't be too many bends in this system

Nice I love my TD under axle set up.......I also added 2-bolt flanges to mine just invade I have to remove the rear end or the fuel tank. When I build my new motor I will be adding cats aswell.

Tell me where I can put those mufflers and have room to go over the axle. My friends said the same thing until they saw the mufflers. Plus I like the look of under the axle

are you still running a rear seat? if not, cut the "bubble" out from each side and replace with flat sheet..... could fit mufflers under that area then. i also dont care for under the axle duals. i would either do turndowns or get creative to get the pipes over the axle and hidden.

I was going to have them put them where you are talking about. Haven't had a rear seat for a few years

Seen that already. Im pretty set on under the axle. The roads by me are nice and smooth and I dont see very many speedbumps, certainly not on a daily basis.
