Default opti/throttle body advice

Ok, doing a le2 emissions set-up on a 94 camaro, block bored, mahle pistons, eagle rods, going w/ the 30lb svo injectors, I would like a little info on porting my own throttle body and also what to do about an opti, I've read about vented/not vented? does any opti fit all years of lt1 motors or do I need a specific one for a 94, also where to get one, factory stuff seems a little high dollar. Also any recomendations on plugs/wire set-up for this?

Leave the throttle body alone. Unless you've got some precision machining equipment porting the throttle body is not something your basic at-home mechanic can do. There are a few people that port stock throttle bodies.

Your 94 came with an unvented optispark. If you wanted a vented opti, converting requires some specialty parts, like a new timing cover, optispark vacuum harness, optispark electrical harness extension, 95+ timing chain (or SBC equivalent), 95+ cam with the stepped nose, etc. Or you can take a risk with the MSD cap/rotor which includes vents.

The factory stuff is a little more high dollar yes, but it also has a fairly high reliability rating compared to all of the other stuff out there.

For plugs/wires, NGK TR55 (3951) plugs and MSD 8.5mm routed in stock locations have served me very well for the past 2 years.

MSD sells optispark with a vent ready to install, when i did mine i did not have to replace my timing cover. Just look for it on summit MSD-8381

and no not all years are the same 92-94 and 95-97

OEM optis are around $350. For your TB leave it alone or buy a good quality aftermarket 58 or ported stock 52 or 54 off of ebay

I would open the intake to accept a 58mm while you have it off the car. You don't want to pull that later when you decide your ready!
