Yeah, the dual sync has its own issues for sure. All the 'big dogs' are running crank trigger with some kind of cam sync.

There were a few companies offering to put a cam sync module inside the opti a while back..I want to say it was blood motorsports, or diablo or something like that.. Years ago..

The question still stands though.. By doing this and using the for distributor ONLY, does the opti's weak link disappear? Does it actually remove the 'opti' part of the optispark?

I know about it because I have installed the system on a buddies car, and before I built my EDIS8/MSII setup, I was considering it. I may even use it on my current project, but I am currently not running it.

Ok guys anyone looking to get rid of the opti for good and be able to rev past 7krpms, I have a complete Fast DFI with sequential firing and datalogger for sale. I am also selling the crank trigger and crank trigger distributor to go in the back of the intake to get rid of the opti completely. I going another route so all these parts are forsale. I don't want to clutter up this thread so PM. Later Clint

Yes the optical portion will be gone, It will have a hall effect sensor that i designed in it's place. For those using adjustable timing sets, the sensor will also be adjustable to put the leading edge at 45º BTDC. XFI will get a separate wheel for the 70º (IIRC) signal BTDC it needs.

Just talked to my waterjet guy, all my parts came out looking great and well within tolerances. I should have everything in hand next week, opti and test stuff is on my bench. You think a 3 prong weatherpack will be fine for the harness? Or since everyone will be using a crank trigger as well, I could use a 5 prong weatherpack or metripack male and female so you could cleanly integrate it and the crank trigger together into your DFI harness?

5 prong minimum I would think because everyone will be using crank trigger. I personally would like the 'cleanly integrate it and the crank trigger into Dfi' option :-D
