10/10 means the crank has been cut .010" (ten thousandths of an inch) on both the rod and the main journals. You are correct about needing to match the bearings to the crankshaft. I would highly recommend taking it to a machine shop and having it mic'd. I know people who have bought .010" bearings for a supposedly .010" under crank and it turned out to be different. The .010" R / .010" M was stamped into a crank throw, but obviously it had been turned again at a later time.

The rods you will need are 5.7" Long. I don't have a part number handy, but I'm not sure I'd trust a summit sales rep to get it right. They seem to be hit & miss these days.

You're welcome. Glad I could help. Don't forget you need to budget for a balance job if you change rods. In fact, even if you don't you need to balance if it wasn't already done when they went to those forged pistons. There is a good bit of weight difference there.

I'm not convinced that your prepped stock rods wouldn't be fine, but this is the perfect time to upgrade and it's not that expensive. The peace of mind in knowing you have some super strong rods is worth alot.

Jason talked to my builder last night. He says hopefully early next week it "should" be done and he will be working on it all weekend.

The stock rods are pretty stout(600+HP) and I wouldnt have the motor rebuilt if it were me. I would just run it and if at some point it blows up then rebuild it. If you do get new rods/bearings & balanced it will take WAY more time/money to get the car running, just look how long its taking mine and Jolsters friends motor at Clayton. I dropped off all my stuff in DEC and still dont have it back. Oh and 1961ba427 is correct they are press fit stock style forged pistons.

UPDATE: so I got underneath the car yesterday with some Duplicolor Rubberized Undercoating... I wasn't expecting anything spectacular cuz it's in a spray can but holy shitballs it turned out f*ckin awesome for what it is.

I took some pics but I'm at work so I'll post later. For those that don't wanna spend a **** ton on POR 15 this stuff is really quality looking stuff. It sprays out quick but once you get used to it, its easy to apply and you don't have to worry about using a roller or making a big mess.

I'm now looking for a vented optispark cuz my non-vented wont work with the new motor and a double roller timing chain.

TCI makes the absolute worst torque converters. I'd ditch that POS if possible.

Just sayin'.

So I hope you all missed me!!! Haha well there hasn't been a whole lot of progress on the car I made a road trip to pick up a motor which I'm having Clayton racing tear into for some new pistons. I'm also going to be going with the 24x ls1 PCM conversion. And then I'm going to have to figure out what my fuel system is going to be. Right now I got the Racetronix 255lph pump and some Lucas 42lb injectors. I also wanna run a 150-250 shot of spray. Below are some pics I took of my baby today. Feel free to make comments.

^^well I picked up some motor mounts at the shootout. Very clean And the shootout was a blast by the way. I was driving the car with the ls1 front end conversion.

Anywho, the car is going to be painted hopefully next week. My trans is going to be converted to work with the ls1 PCM this week, it has a 97 ss case but the internals n connectors are all being replaced. And in about 2 weeks I should be dropping the shortblock off to Clayton racing. After that I gotta save up for the PCM conversion.

Looking forward to hopefully taking the title for Extreme Street N/A next year. Congrats by the way to Jeff (Badhawk)

So project rattle cans is OFFICIALLY underway!!!! The car has been painted, just finishing the spoiler and rear valance panel. The trans is currently in the process of being converted to work for the PCM conversion. I also got a good deal on a center console from rob which I mocked up to work with the B&M ratchet shifter. I also got a little dirty last night n pulled the e-brake out. Slowly but surely ladies n gents. Now for pics....

^^ yea i've got t/a door panels, the dash, pillars, console, dash pad, the only thing I kept original is the rear plastic panels behind the seats n in the trunk.

I also got a chance to put the mirrors, front turn signals, rear markers and the drivers door handle back in today. Sometime this week the rear filler panel n the spoiler will be done n then the full exterior assembly will go together. Once that's done then I sit n save some $$ to get the motor done and the PCM conversion. If anyone is looking to sell their 24x kit PLEASE pm me
