That's what I was thinking just to get it started and then go from there. Looking to still get the conversion kit and some LS coil brackets from EFI. It's all the little things that are adding up (trans cooler, brakes, gaskets, fluids, spark plugs, abs delete kit)

I still need a link to get the head gaskets. I'm not sure which ones to get as I want to keep the compression up around 11-11.5:1 or higher just so I can run nitrous if I want

Looking at these for head gaskets:

http://m.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-3140g
http://m.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-30494040-040
http://m.summitracing.com/parts/cgt-c5645-040

Pistons are .040 so I'm assuming those are the ones I need. I just don't know which ones to get. I would think the thickest of all?

I run the .028" from Victor Reinz. They are available several places and they are very reasonable at less than $30 each. A visual compared to a GM Impala .026" gasket which is now discontinued....they looked identical. They even measured the same thickness (before use). I haven't heard of anyone having problems with them being stuck to the packaging like the Mr. Gasket ones.

felpro 1074s are 30/each I think. Isn't the Reinz setup 30 for both?

Does it matter about having 40 over pistons?

How about these? Just to be sure they'll work with the bore?

Engine bay...

Slowly but surely, the shell should be all done by tomorrow afternoon. Then ill be moving on to the trunk, lt1 ss spoiler, and the Berger panel. Also just picked up some Jegs fender covers so when I'm working on it I don't ruin the fenders. $10 a piece with free shipping, can't beat that

I'm assuming it can't be put back together

So I was able to pull some magic and put the waterpump back together. Hopefully it should work when it's all together.

Also picked these up yesterday from the machine shop.

Some re-worked LE1 heads more now like LE2's. With some brand new Brian Tooley ltx valve springs, and new seals, valve job and surfaced. Machine shop said with the .026 gaskets the CR should be around 10.5-11:1 which should be good for NA and possible nitrous.

Those should be good. I was afraid you had ended up from some aweful junk from the text, but I think they will be fine.

^^^ I wish I had taken before pics. I almost thought they were junk. Shipped with all the spark plugs still in them. All but 2 of the valve stem seals completely ripped. Everything covered in oil, water temp sensor broken off in the head. They looked beat up when I got them but after the good cleaning, I'm satisfied but I may still be looking to upgrade more down the road.

Hahaha thanks joe. Yea legitimately it's been about a 5 year project. I think by the end of this year it should be going down the track.

Got some bling today!!!! They look awesome

I've got the best woman in the world. She's agreed to take out a loan on her 401k to help me get this done. So within the next 2 weeks I should have my shortblock, 24x conversion kit, coil brackets, fuel pump, brake lines, and hopefully the interior harness back from BP Automotive.

Ordered new ARP intake manifold bolts, racetronix fuel pump kit, derale trans cooler with a fan, stainless brake lines, and the SJM abs delete kit with a line lock. By Monday I'll order the 24x conversion kit and brackets. Then going through Rockauto to get a knock sensor and a front strut mount, after that I'll be all over BP Automotive to finish my interior wiring harness. Then Dec. 1st the rest of the car gets painted. I will be taking more pics as I start to receive parts and start putting stuff together.

More goodies...

Conversion kit and brackets are ordered, drilled and slotted rotors with pads.

So by the end of next month the paint will all be finished and hopefully by Xmas time I should have a video of it running as long as my dumbass doesn't screw something up
