94 Vette Coolant temp sensor

I've replaced the sensor on my friends 94 Vette, but it is still throwing a check engine light. The scanner shows a temp of -40. Is there somewhere I can get a wiring diagram for this car? Has anyone had this issued before?

Sounds like a bad sensor, its in the drivers side head. Sensor is ~$15

I'm not sure if it's any different in the Corvette's, but on the f-bodies the sensor in the water pump (not the driver side cylinder head) drives the PCM while the sensor in the head drives the gauge on the dashboard.

Make sure the sensor in the waterpump is the correct one. Do the fans come on immediately when you start the engine?

on vettes the coolant sensor for the dash is in the passenger side head and the one for the pcm is in the waterpump. either you changed the wrong one or there is a bad connection/short.

Did your friend disconnect the battery after the new sensor went in? That will reset the pcm of existing codes.

Make sure you have the right sensor. I ran into trouble when replacing mine b/c no one could give me the correct one, I always ended up with the 2 prong w/p sensor instead of the 1 prong coolant temp sensor.

Right.

Well usually when a sensor is faulty it max's out, so it could have his gauge pegged. Either way, sounds like a sensor to me.
