You are talking about a modified PCM is this connected to this kit? meaning is it a required part of the opti kit or are they separate? I ask because I have an OBd2 car and an already modified(KS resistance) obd1 pcm.

How would this all work with the PCM anyway? Would you modify the already modified PCM?

He never put down this product. He just said the FACT that nobody will ever produce a bolt in, easy to change, cheap opti that is just as reliable as the stock piece.

What is being worked on is not a new opti, it is a crank trigger setup that won't even really be competing with optisparks. Not a bolt-in opti replacement like the Accel, MSD, or Dynasparks.

If anything, chandler may get MORE sales from people like me who have no opti at all to gut and mod and just want to buy a cheap one for the shell without worrying about dirty junkyard stuff .

Note that I've never bought from the guy and have no experience about his products or customer service - I just don't think what he said was inferred properly by some people .

::EDIT:: Still can't wait for this to be done

<<<<< You have that right. I bet that alot of former LT1 owners will return to them if this catches on.

Okay, I see what you are saying about this not being an opti-spark since it doesn't use the optical sensor and that may be what Chandler was referring to with his "when pig's fly" post. Someone else even said it was in reference to a completely different thread. All that may be true, and I may be way off in thinking it fear of competition was the reason behind his post. In my personal opinion that post and the one's that followed were still very unprofessional. If other people want to spend their $$ with them, that is their business. I simply stated I would not.

^ Agreed 100%. Bad attitude, and postings were out of fear of competition. IIRC, I called him out on that.

Keep it up Wicked! This will be a sweet thing for the LT1 community.

I think this is going to be great, but my only question is what other system uses the same type sensor/electronics that you are going to be using? How do we know it will be more reliable than the optical sensor? Please dont get me wrong. Im not bashing in any way. As soon as a few of these are tested out Ill probably be replacing my opti with one, considering it has 112000+ miles on it.

I also just want to thank you for developing new tech for the LT1. If this works it is going to be AWESOME, especially at the price your shooting for.

Great questions! The company making these sensors is a MAJOR oem supplier for all types of VR sensors. The crank sensor is all stainless steel, and is extremely heat and vibration resistant. It actually uses an amphenol connection (think aircraft and military app). Reliability should be at least comparable and probably superior to any molded OEM type speed sensor. But should a sensor fail, it is just a matter of swapping the sensor (10 minutes max?), and the cost of the sensors is less than the cost of a "premium" ebay optispark.

Note: The cam sensor is housed inside the optispark unit, so water pump removal is inevitable to replace that sensor. But feel free to dump water on the unit, because they are virtually impervious to liquids

Right now I'm working out the bugs on getting setting up my sound card set up to record the waveforms, I'm being careful because it's actually my dad's desktop I'm borrowing, because I didn't want to risk blowing up the soundcard on my laptop

Thanks for answering my questions. Sounds very very promising. Ill be glad when I dont have to worry about the opti anymore.

If you would have asked me last month, I would have said by the end of March. However... I'm in middle of getting laid-off, and moving so it's a little hard right now for me to make time to get this finished up. I also have some other work and projects going right now that I need to wrap up in the next 2-3 weeks. Like I said in the original thread, this isn't my road to an early retirement I'm kind of being vague as I don't want this getting locked down for soliciting business... But I don't want anyone thinking the support will not be 110% when I start making these available. My creative juices are just spread a little thin right now. BTW I have 5 sets ready to be assembled at this time...

I think we are all waiting for the final product and guaranteed hes going to have a tone of people waiting to get one. Ill be in for two right now if they have been tested to make sure they are working 100% without issues. Sell the first five you got ready to go and start making more with the income!

I posted a few days back asking about buying on of your pre-production ones because I thought my MSD opti was on the way out and I didn't want to invest in something else, only to buy yours when it was released. Well it turns out that all I needed was 3 plug wires. (How 3 decided to quit working at one time I don't know.) I still am anxiously awaiting this to be released and I will pull my working opti in a minute to upgrade to something I don't have to worry about all the time.
