Default cheapest DIY exhaust setup?

So i just finished putting in long tubes among other mods and went way over budget. Whats the cheapest setup I could built that sounds half dencent?. My plan was to fab up some boom tubes ($20 material) and just put a muffler in line between each header and boom tube. the problem is that the car is a DD and i think this might be TO loud. I need some CHEAP ideas for which mufflers to use that will quiet the car down so its not just ignorant but still get that classic throaty sound we all love

well cheapest setups will be a summit x-pipe kit or y-pipe with a turn down

quieting it down will be trying to find a muffler to fit in there. bullets and single chambers won't do a whole lot for the volume, just the tone mostly.

Your best option is a full size muffler like a Magnaflow 5x9, Hooker Maxflo or Borla Pro XS under the back seats. Those will do the best job at quieting it down

A dumped exhaust is the cheapest way but its also LOUD. I have that setup right now and i only drive my car once or twice a week and it gets on my nerves after about 15 minutes. If you DD your car i do not recommend a dumped bullet of any kind.

yes i do. after the Y i have an electric dump followed by the stock exhaust with a hooker aerochamber muffler. with the dump open its way to loud and sounds like **** and with it closed its way to quiet and sounds like ****.

well as for bullet'd exhaust, here's a point of reference for you. I had a SLP Loudmouth with a cutout, there was literally no change in volume or sound when I opened it. the noise just came from a different part of the car.

Right now im thinking about using either a flowmaster 10 series or magnaflow 4 in round by 6in long on each side. still, i hate to spend $80 each for these and still end up with a stupid loud exhaust.
