you will also need a v8 k member, fuel pump, driveshaft, tranny crossmember, etc. im doing the v6 to v8 swap as well and im at $2200 right now. all i need right now is headers and exhaust system and a few more odds and ends.

just to put it into perspective, i picked mine up for 3k with all of the mods in my sig excluding the wheels. it took months of searching, but if you have some patience (which was really hard for me), you will find what you want.

I spent over $5k on my V6 -> V8 swap...and then dumped another $2500 when I redid the entire top end a year later...

...moral of story...buy a V8 car...

something else to consider is the suspension and brakes. they will be for a v6 and may not be up to the harder driving that you will be doing after the swap. going fast is good... stopping is better... having both is best! just a little more to think about.

incorrect: v6 and v8 suspension and brakes are the exact same. i am reusing all of my v6 brakes and shocks. dont believe me? look up part numbers.

depends on the model of the v6. my old 95 camaro v6 had front disc/rear drum.

No offense but paint on these things is gonna run you 3 to 5 k to look good and last for more than 4 years. To be honest it depends on what shape your V6 car is in. If the paint is in really good shape, the car is paid for, the interior is in good shape, the suspention and what not are all in good shape then it may be worth using the V6 car V's a cheap LT1 car that is going to need paint and may have been hit or what not. Another thing to consider is that most V6 cars had open diff's, at least the ones I used to see up to about 95. 96 on I don't know if they had an option for LSD's or not.

Most all Z's had rear disks but it really is a moog point considering that those are also almost all open diff's so a cheap Z or TA or FH rear swap is in order but they are all over the place.

If it were me, i would just keep saving the money and keep looking around for a LT1 f-body for sale. Will save ya some headaches down the road trying to get all the pieces and parts for the swap. Plus your assuming everything is gonna go smoothly with the swap. Its just going to nickle and dime ya the whole way. Just not worth it IMO.
