Default What Stall Converter?

Hey all,

I sold my Cam set up, and I am now saving for a stall converter...

I have read alot and come to the conclusion that a SS3600 is the best DD stall....

Its a little pricey tho, are there any others just as good as the SS3600 for a cheaper price?

I also plan on doing a Trans Cooler, BTW....

Please let me know,

Thanks in advance,

Kyle

If you want a nice tight stall, the SS3600 would be the most popular for a street car. Vigi and Edge both make great converters too, and the Edge especially are great bang for the buck on a milder street car.

The SS series Yank stalls are tighter then them both though, and would be more like what you are accustomed to on the street.

Trans cooler is a must for any stall you choose that is over stock.

Does Edge make a 3600 or 3500?

And, yeah, the reason I posted the trans cooler, is because I didnt want people wasting there time saying "you'll need a trans cooler" lol

Like most larger stall companies, they can make whatever you want.

IIRC its like $550 for a custom LT1 Edge. Not bad at all.

LOL at footbraking to 3200. Most SS3600 owners footbrake to 1800-2000 to preload the suspension and then flash it to 3600

I am going to be going with a EDGE converter; the ss3600 would be the best bet if you have the extra $$. Andre at Edge racing is a great guy to deal with and is much closer to my price range.

You can't go wrong with the Yank SS 3600. I've had mine 6 years, you won't be disappointed.

If I don't go with a yank SS3600, I'm prob. Gonna go with an Edge stall. Good idea? Any other opinions on them?

I wouldn't go anywhere near a 3600 stall with an Edge. I had a 3400 Edge and it was very sloppy on the street compared to the Yank SS3600.
I've owned and driven a gamut of Yank, Vig, Edge, ATI & Coan converters. They're all good value, but NOTHING drives as well on the street as the Yank SS series, and still hits hard when you nail it. To me, spending the extra $200 for something that simply works so much better than the others is a no-brainer.

No, there are no others just as good for your application, IMHO of course.
And the 3600 stall will be best for what you have now, and will allow for a fairly healthy h/c or stroker setup in the future if you desire.

I have been doing some reading and I have read that FTI makes a well street mannered stall at 3600 and even higher near 4k... and there track results are pretty nice as well...

Do I need a Lock up converter or non-lock up?

I've been thinking about going with "SRL series billet 9.5" lock up converter" in 3600, but I cant seem to find a price or order page?

I agree, it's a proven performer.
